I'm looking at painting my rocker cover as at the moment it's dirty grey and rust lol!
Am I correct that its just two bolts on top to remove it?
Once removed what paint is best to paint it with and am I best to change the gasket once its been removed?
Cheers guys getting lots of help from here ;)

Yeah just those 2 bolts.
Be carefull when you take it off though, there is 2 metal spacers ontop of the baffle plate - you don't want them falling into the engine :P
I just used some grey heat resistant primer.. then you can paint it what ever colour you want then lacquer.
I didn't need to replace the gasket on mine, they're thick rubber ones.. so not easily damaged.

any paint will do, powdercoat probably ideal, no need to use heat resistant stuff, but petrol resistant would be an idea, engines dont get that hot though exhausts do ;)

I've always wandered this. i've never had time to spray the rocker cover, can you just not use Autosol and wire wool, and buff it up a bit?

Been and bought the paint today and a new gasket as the car has done 112k miles so it won't hurt it :)
I'll post pics when it's done.
Cheers

No... its mild steel... + painted to start.. so dont see why you would use metal polish on it...

But surely, if its already a crappy rusty colour, the paint has worn or flaked off, and it's metal. Would it not work?
Anyone actually seriously done this?

You can do it but you will need to strip all the paint first then remove the rust then polish it. Then you will have to polish the fuck out of it every week or get a clear coat to seal it and keep it from rusting.

+1 - i did this before selling my vtr, oem looks so much nicer than coloured DIY rattle canned rocker covers!
be aware though that the rocker cover bolts need to be tightened to a certain torque.. i over-tightened mine originally and the bolt snapped..
it was the day before FCS last year and trying to find that specific bolt on a saturday morning was nuts (no pun intended) - i went to literally every citroen garage in the south of england...
...finally found the right one at a peugeot garage for a 106 :p
