Looks good, but how long would it take to get your car into a space or out of the space?

That is so sick! Heard on a tv show that I think you get your car within half an hour or something, and as they're brand new that includes filling out all your paperwork

ive seen that on 'how do they do it'. Its for brand new cars which customers order. You order your car and wait by some progress screen to see how its getting on. While a series of robots and computers collect the car and bring it down to the ground

Pretty sick.
I'd be pissed off if I was running late and I needed to get my car out in a hurry though lol.

This isn't a public car park.
It's a holding area for cars awaiting collection. A huge number of VW owners collect their new cars from the factory. They turn up and watch a progress screen.
The "arm" the collects the car from the tower, puts it on a conveyor belt at the bottom and is then moved to the showroom to the owner. It means the car is never "driven" as such before the owner collects it and shows 0 miles on the ODOmeter

I know it's not a public car park
but chances are, it'll be 'the future'.

I think it's awesome, but I don't think it would work as a proper car park for the public, would take too long to get your car I think.

you can do a proper tour of the VW & Audi factory at Inglostadt and Wolfsburg, it's something I've always wanted to do. Apparently there's bits of wall in the old factory where the concrete walls have been 'shaved' back to remove the swostika's which hitler put there during the war.
You can tour the production line and see cars being assembled along various stages - something ridiculous like 2 hours to put a VW touraeg together..
The place has it's own power station to drive the whole operation..
The audi factory has the largest sliding glass doors in the world (sounds shit but I bet if someone described "this giant multi story carpark tower thing" it would also sound equally shit)
And VW customers can pay extra to go to the vw factory and collect their car from the tower of brand new cars.
Might rally round the lads for next year :D

They do have this sort of thing in japen, but not as technical. Saw it on documentary a while back. Although its a lot of effort just to give a customer a car with 0 miles on it, instead of the usual transport mileage you get.

they already have public carparks similar to this in germany.
there's no glass windows or anything, only time you will see cars parked in a long row and above each other is when the main entrance/exit door opens .
same kind of style, drive car onto belt/platform, grab ticket, watch car go inside.

You send a text/make a call minutes before you come back.
