View Full Version : My new Dc2 integra JDM

jones91
24th November 2012, 16:49
Ive always liked these cars if I'm being honest, but didn't plan on buying one anytime soon tbh.... until this cropped up at a great price, so I just had to buy it and the saxo's gonna have to go instead :n:

It's a 96 spec dc2 integra jdm, and off the top of my head, it's spec/details are below

75k
Mugen twin loop exhaust
Decat
Hks Manu
Tegiwa coilovers
Spoon ecu
3 point strut brace
Mugen carbon fibre air intake
98 spec wheels
Big brake conversion (think they're 282s)
Dyno'd at 212 brake @ the fly

There's a few other bits that have slipped out of my head lol, but I think that's the main bulk. To be honest, I'm pretty happy how it is so apart from cleaning and maintaining there probably won't be a fat lot of progress.... anyhow a few pics below

I think that's pretty much it tbh..... so hope you guys enjoy the thread :)

UK ones can look incredible!

Look out for a Azect Rear Lip if you are keeping the 96spec rear bumper. Can get them from America from another company under the name of Ace Rear Lip.

8th January 2013, 13:44
Again cheers for the comments guys :) Mini update as I haven't updated it since I bought the car, haven't done a great deal to the car since I've bought it, just sticking to keeping it clean and good condition for now, all I've done since buying it is keep it clean, and oil and filter change.... oh yeah also bought a new exhaust system as I'm not a fan of the mugen twinloop

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/08/ha8azeqy.jpg

Apologies for the shite pictures but it was dark when I got it and I fitted it on the same night, the system is a hks windmaster (great name for an exhaust I know :p) and it looks 10x better on the car than the old system, even though the backbox is shaped like an ice cream cone. Also in my opinion sounds much better than the twinloop too as the exhaust actually has a note to it now. Few more photo's below of it as there's not a great deal yet, a couple of them are AlexB's so hope he doesnt mind me copying and pasting them

dont they do the spoon n1 for these? looking smart as fuck tho mate.

jones91
8th January 2013, 13:52
Cheers mate :) yeah they do the spoon n1 for these, had a look and they're £429 just for the backbox though :n: I got that system for £300 delivered new so was a no-brainer really :p and I think it sounds pretty good too, with a bit of noise but not Ott

I initially wanted a buddyclub system but theyre minimum £500

Prickle
8th January 2013, 13:54
jesus expensive just for a backbox! how much are the Spoon N1 reps?

lukebeard
8th January 2013, 14:34
i had a js racing n1 rep on the civic with a 2.5" unsilenced b-pipe and it sounded the nuts! shite for motorway miles though. sold my back box for £80 the other week. iv still got brand new goodridge phantom lines for the ep3 which need selling!!

jones91
8th January 2013, 20:38
Prickle I haven't checked what the reps go for but I still don't think they're cheap tbh

Luke in still a bit of a noob with jap cars lol, is the b-pipe the whole centre section or just the bend between the mid pipe and the backbox?

Bet it sounded lovely :) But isn't £80 a bit cheap for the backbox?

lukebeard
9th January 2013, 06:25
no because its a rep they are only like £120 new i think. and it went from the cat to the back box mate. its known to be the most restrictive part and since putting my standard system back on the throttle response has gone poopy :( but got a pugsport on the saxo now so still get my pops and bangs from some where lol

JoshFurioBrookes

Get that spoiler off it, and get it low! Love these.

il secong this :y:

jones91
9th January 2013, 12:34
It's as low as I dare to take it tbh, the exhaust I have in it swoops under the rear axle and is literally a cm off the floor..... it scrapes on most a roads and motorways already, and speed bumps are a NIGHTMARE!!!

And think I'm keeping the spoiler as I like it, the spoiler will get a respray soon though

Jazz
9th January 2013, 16:05
I've owned a few Type R Hondas in the past, but never a Teg. I would love one someday.

Looks lovely.

Jay_
9th January 2013, 17:26
Don't you dare de-spoiler this.

It looks bang on, but I'm not a fan of the backbox :n:

jones91
9th January 2013, 20:25
Cheers lads :y:

Jazz I'd definitely look at owning something like a dc5 one day, I've never driven an ep3, fn2 civic etc so cant compare this to other honda's, but the integra in my opinion is a great car

Jay I'd never de-spoiler it lol, if anything it's getting resprayed as it's flaking a bit in the corner

And yeah the exhaust is turning out to be a bit like marmite lol, some love it and some hate it but it makes a nice note without being too loud so I'm happy with it for now :)

Keep the spoiler and it needs raising not lowering!

(Love it btw)

jones91

Looks lovely always fancied a teg how does it compare to the vts?
Cheers :) Against the vts it returns slightly better mpg (low to mid 30's driving sensible and about mid to high 20's giving it some lol), comfort wise it's just better hands down as it comes with recaro's as standard, it's a lot more roomy inside and the ride itself is loads smoother, even with the coilovers at a hard dampening setting. Acceleration its not quite as quick as the vts when it was boosted but it's not that far off tbh, but is still a 0-60 car in 6 seconds. Handling is out of this world, I haven't been able to push it in the corners as the cars capabilities outweigh mine. And finally nothing's gone wrong with it yet which is something I haven't said for a long time lol :)

Quick vid of the exhaust, sorry about the quality but no-one would help me video it at 11pm on a Sunday night so was on my own :n:

Also didn't realise how loud the car is outside :p

Hope it works lol

Edit: don't think it's working but might be because I'm on my mobile

Plans - still dont really have many tbh, but il waxoyl the arches, dyno run for an engine health check, decent set of tyres (currently have federals lol), and maybe respray a couple of panels, as the splitters stone chipped, the spoilers flaking and there's a couple of old filler marks starting to show through the paint

Other than that that's about it :)

Jay_
4th March 2013, 17:33
That CRX is lovely! :y:

The only thing I would change about the DC2 is the backbox. Just think it looks universal :(

LSOfreak
4th March 2013, 18:10
i agree, backbox looks odd.. why does it look like that??

jones91
4th March 2013, 18:37
Funnily enough guys I've just taken a pic of the backbox lol
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/05/3y7evu9e.jpg

I've got no idea why it's shaped like an ice cream cone tbh, but I bought the system as my mate (the one who owns the Evo) had one on his old ek9 and sounded the tits

Jay the only issue with changing the backbox is, I'd have to change the whole system as this one sweeps underneath the axle, where as most go up and over it, and the only systems I would change it for would cost £600+ which I dont want to spend on one lol

Yeah how did you know it was Dudley from them pics lol? Supposed to be a monthly Jap meet (biggest in Europe) right on that car park, but from what I heard cops shut it down after a crash

Trying to find out where they meet now but not having much look :(

Tbh mate I've never been to one of the JAE meets, the pics were from a gathering of multiple cruises on a Sunday night to make one huge meet, the JAE meets got closed off by police a couple of months ago from a serious crash :n:

That's what they came on but pretty sure they're a no go. I had a set spare that I left in the loft last time I moved... Was gutted!

jones91
20th April 2013, 20:39
Not done much to this since I last updated, and haven't got round to doing any of the previous list stated lol, but there's a couple of things I have done since last posting

Firstly it's been raised 20mm all round as I struggled to get over speedbumps, turns out the coilovers were set up completely wrong, and the height was set up by compressing/de-compressing the springs, so the front springs were really loose and the rear springs were super tight lol

Secondly due to being so low in the first place I smashed my exhaust up on multiple amounts of speed bumps and cats eyes, so I've now had that fixed, but i was constantly hitting the midbox and ended up wrecking that too, so ended up having the middle box cut out too resulting in a pretty loud car lol. Took a couple of vids this afternoon as taking the box out has changed the sound of the car a bit.....sorry they're not great quality but anyway here they are below

Mate covered up the speaker so sounds quiet and muffled :n:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=plcp&v=6Rm3zLHYWGI

Inside the car, apologies about the wind distortion when I get close to the national speed limit ;)
http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=plcp&v=uOYgyTJ1lgE

And also this one... again not great but probably the best out the lot
http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=plcp&v=SINa8PEaRQk

If I get time il try and get some better ones without distortion lol

Oh and I'm getting a better camera next week so il take some new photos then :)

jones91
21st April 2013, 12:13
Cheers John-G :y: I think the tinny sound is just the crappy sound quality of the vid tbh, we didn't realise my mate was muffling the sound by covering the speaker during filming until afterwards :n:

And G-Tuff yeah vtec is proper norrrtty lol :p

jones91
22nd April 2013, 16:58
Lol cheers mate :y:

And yeah get some videos up, you probably won't get the car to sound quite like it sounds in real life, but they'l give people a decent idea :)

martin1985
22nd April 2013, 17:05
thinking of getting a ep3 type r for next car....or turbo my current car....will get on the vids tho :y:

jones91
22nd April 2013, 17:14
If you rely on your car for daily use I wouldn't turbo your current car tbh, unless you can afford a 2nd car for a cheap runabout, and deal with the fact you might lose a fair bit of money. When I turbo'd my old vts if I needed it daily I probably wouldn't have a job anymore lol

An ep3 is a nice step up from a vts, they are a fair bit quicker, but they're also a much nicer place to be too and just as economical, and you also spend less time fiddling about with little bits that fall apart lol

martin1985
22nd April 2013, 17:24
cheers for info, might just stick with uprated cams then :y:

jones91
19th May 2013, 18:46
Nothing mega exciting to report on this lately again lol, but yesterday I've decided to get my arse into gear a bit and crack on with little bits that need doing. So first of all, I took the spoiler & splitter off to get resprayed as they're flaking and the splitter is quite badly stone chipped

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/y9usyhe8.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/e4a5umy3.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/5ubaga8e.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/4u8uryma.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/ava4y9y9.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/ebyruta6.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/urume3e3.jpg

So fingers crossed by next weekend I should have a decent splitter & spoiler worthy of not letting the looks of the car down

Also put some new Honda badges on as the old ones have been on since new and look flimsy & manky

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/gy4e5a6a.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/e3y2y7ej.jpg

And got a new set of wheel bolts (also shows my best efforts to de-tar the wheels but still not perfect)

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/20/8u5yvuhy.jpg

I was going to give the car a full valet but the wax hasn't turned up in the post yet lol so that'l have to wait til next weekend..... I think that's it for now but hopefully should have some more progress in a bit :)

Such a lovely looking car, looks good without that spoiler on I think

Also that exhaust is marmite to me, as I hate it - nothing else going cheap to replace it with? Just looks out of place?

Cheers mate, lots of people have said it looks good without a spoiler tbh, but personally I think it's like it's missing a limb without it lol

And yeah completely agree the exhaust is marmite, a love it or hate it thing, but I do like it tbh, it's a rare system and there's not many about..... and can't really afford to change it soon either as I've spent £450 on tax & adjustable camber arms, and still need to pay for the respray on the splitter & spoiler, and will soon be spending £400 on semi slick track tyres

Small update

Got the splitter and spoiler back from the spray shop...... but looks like im going back there again :n: all was going well until I came to re-fit the spoiler....

I know championship white can be hard to match, but that's just miles off and no way I'm leaving that on lol so will be going back to the spray shop when I can. Haven't even bothered fitting the splitter either

And whilst I'm here, might as well upload what else I've bought in my little shopping spree :y:

And yeah I know I bought badges a short while back, but they were cheap and have already fell apart so got some genuine ones instead..... at £40 quid a badge!!!!!

To be honest, i think the spoiler is actually championship white, and your car 'changed' color in the last couple of years?

29th June 2013, 12:57
I agree ^

The car looks abit "creamy" coloured more so then White

jones91
29th June 2013, 12:59
I could be wrong here, but personally I think the bloke from the spray shop has got it wrong tbh

Below I've taken the colour from my spoiler, and the championship white colour from a jdm fn2 civic, which I wouldn't of thought would have time to lose its colour, and the difference is still pretty big tbf, the top pic is the spoiler and the bottom pic is the civic

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/29/y9yne5a4.jpg

Edit: championship white was always slightly creamy in the first place I believe

I'm sure they can 'measure' what color code the car is and replicate that.

Championship white is more of a creamy white than pure white

It's been painted the wrong white haha

jones91
29th June 2013, 16:24
Ok since I last updated this, I've spent all afternoon cleaning it to try and restore the paint colour and to try and get the paintwork to look similar to the spoiler, sort of went well..... can still see the difference but its not as noticeable as before, and might even just leave the spoiler, fit the splitter and just leave it

Opinions..... does it look close enough and should I leave it?

Or should I have them redone?

Cheers :y:

That's what I did in the end mate :y:

Body shop took the responsibility, and admitted its been painted in Grand Prix white instead and will redo both parts foc

So should have the bits in the right colour before too long I hope :y:

LOL thats almost laughable mate, you need to sort it, it almost looks minty with a hint of blue to it.

Championship white is creamy as you know and that looks nothing like championship white. 100% not.

Championhip white is easy to spray and match too so they shouldnt have any problem at all with it. Straight forward easy job.

Ive just have some Ppremium Pearl white sprayed on a door and wing and had the rear door blended in too and you cant see the difference at all and with it being pearl its harder to do so.

There are 27 shades of championship white on sikkens paint scheme alone. Championship white isn't as easy as you think to paint without blending. Saying that it should be a hell of a lot closer than that.

It's getting sorted mate, bloke admits he's used the wrong paint and I'm dropping them back off to be redone :y:

I wasn't expecting it to be perfect tbh, as Bedford said there's a few different shades of nh-0 championship white, but that did take the piss a bit though lol

And fuck me 27 different shades of championship white :omg:

Bit of an update, went back to the garage that sprayed my parts, they've redone them (now in the right colour lol), they don't 100% match but as I didn't give them the car to colour match too I'm happy enough

Also some good news for the haters of my exhaust :homme: I bought this a couple of weeks ago :y:

In my opinion sounds better than the old system too, it gives more of a deep burble sound rather than the rasp the old one made, its a bit droney at times but as it isn't a daly car I can put up with it

Some pics with the parts now fitted back on, yeah the car does need a wash but il probs get round to doing that tomorrow
