Got a problem with my vtr
The other week the power steering rear window and fan stopped working with the battery light flashing then constant on battery light so I checked battery and it was reading just over 12 volts engine running. So I guessed alternator was issue so went to scrappy and got one but it sais 12v on it instead of the original 14 on the old one..... I put it on and it read 13v but yet it occasionally the battery light still flashes then the car dies ? Starts straight back up when I bump start it.....
Any ideas would be great
Thanks

How do you know that you werent buying what youve just taken off.. They usually all say 12v but pump out about 14...
Also have you taken a reading straight off the alternator just to make sure its not wiring rather than a hardware issue?

Just thought I would try it lol was free so worth a try and no I will in the morning mate. Could it be that it's a lower powered one? I made sure it was one with powersteering

I think the phase 1 and phase 2 are different but itll be the amps not the volts... If youve got a bad earth it could very well be that, thats causing the drop in power... Unlikely but not unheard of...

It seems like my new alternator isn't keeping up. It's fine when I havnt got nothing on but as soon as I have lights or fan on the battery light flickers gauges start jumping up and down then it does
