I don't have a clue mate, I've not been home since early october. but yeah, they've blocked off the boating lake in the past year or so, and now the water level is always so high down the embankment haha.

Luckily my parents live the other side of town near the mowsbury park end, just off kimbolton road, and it's never that bad round that way. :)

Two local rivers have burst their banks round here, one seems to do it most times it rains,
So I get the disco out with the snorkel an drive through it while everyone turns round lol.

Lionsden to the rescue again I imagine in his area!

No rescue missions this time, seems people are becoming a little more sensible up here. Although I've still had good fun. It hasn't been as bad up here as it was a few months ago, but still enough to have a splash about in. It's deep snow I want again!

Could use bought and it'd still make sense though ;)

Although having "i think" at the start and end of the title stands out more than bought/brought to me lol

I'd of gone with bought all though both would work.

I have been very, very tempted to get the rubber boat I have in the loft from when I was a kid and fetch it out on the roof of my car! I remember it being a massive boat prob not that big I was a lot smaller then but I'm quite sure it would be me amused for hours.

Ended up walking through a bit in bare feet the other day as wanted to check it wasn't too deep for the car before I drove through it.

I wasn't meaning he'd made a spelling mistake, I was implying that having "brought" one may have helped him

No. he is saying he should have purchased a boat instead of a car.

What a fucking day!

So far I've pumped out 6 feet of water from two of our lifts. 3 stores with damaged stock due to leaks!!!!! If it carries on like this, the shopping centre will be under water tomorrow!!!

Roll on 6pm!

I'm still confused at why the Mondeo owner even attempted to drive through it :/ There was another driver that did the the same and he asked my brother if he had jump leads....

There was an area just like this covered on the news the other day. The pub owner said, " We've lost loads of money turning away people who turned up for Sunday lunch ".

I thought, who the fuck saw that lake outside the pub and thought, " I know, we'll go for Sunday roast today " !

Well I've had my fill of excitement wading through these floods, I nearly made a tit of myself last night. Water level reached the bottom of my windscreen, and I could feel my truck starting to float at two points. I wish I had my dash cam filming it as I won't be doing that again in a hurry. It's a strange view when you're in the dark and your headlights go below the water level!

That the river ouse? That likes to flood that river, it especially doesn't like this one pub in particular.

yeah there's the king charles or king george or something right in the centre of town. The water was super high today, those pics I posted above are on my cycle route - if I was standing there today I guess I'd be upto my neck in water! Way high!!

I'm currently in York and the waters really high! From what I can gather there's a road alongside the river which is 4/5 foot under. I've never been before so don't know what it's like normally.

when we've had weather like we have recently that's a fairly standard height for the river to come up. Think it's due to a number of reasons, partly that the vale of york is flat so it almost acts like a basin, and also the river foss/ouse don't seem to drain as quickly as they fill, so as soon as the incoming flow increases they rise real quick.

As far as I can tell most of the businesses along the river have adapted to it like the kings arms have moved all their electric cables further up the wall so that when water comes in the pub upto a foot or two, they can carry on serving. Many of the other pubs and restaurants have their toilets downstairs and just stick 'out of order' signs up instructing people to use the disabled toilets. The hyena lounge comedy club is in the basement of the city screen cinema and has cancelled all shows til further notice though :(

Ha, "the pub that floods"

Think it's called that and has it on the wall somewhere... Was in there a few months back on a stag do.
