Hi all,
Been driving a 1.4 VSX for a few months now and I've decided to add DRL's (Daytime Running Lights). Yes, I know they look slightly chavvy if done wrong but the people here drive like idiots and anything that means they're more likely to notice me before smashing into me is a bonus. (TT Races are a good example)

So, I've got myself a genlabs DRLR2 unit which dims them with the side lights, but I just need advice on where to get a live ignition feed in the engine bay (I'm more computer inclined, the engine bay is still a world of grease and confusion, without venturing into the interior, preferably somewhere near the sidelight wire (lights cut out when side lights are on).

Cheers all

Behind your stereo, there ignition live and constant live, use elctical tester to find out which is which, and when you find out follow up the loom into engine bay and cut your way in as close to were ever you need it hOpe this helps

8 amp wire would be good as has thicker insulation and will keep a more stable voltage than thinner wire

Tried to break through the firewall, including with the help of Google and have lost the will to live with it.
Is there anything in the engine fusebox or somewhere in the engine bay I can splice into to power the DRLs?

Just wire them straight off your sidelights and drive with them on much easier - more visible and also gives you rear DRLs at the same time.

If not I'm sure there's a live connection in the fuse box thingy that's by the brake servo/fuel cut off switch in the engine compartment. My sub has a power connection from there.

Isn't it illegal to have them on with the headlights though? But then, I could splice the genlabs box I have to turn them off when the headlights come on...decisions..
