I'm thinking of buying a vtr on wednesday but the dealer has told me that the ride feels a bit hard at the back. He doesn't know if it's been lowered or not. Does this mean it might need a whole new axle or could it just be the bushes or bearings or whatever? The car's a 53 with 56,000 miles. Cheers :)

May have upgraded shocks - this can harden the ride. Often shocks are upgraded if the back is lowered - you need to see what it looks like ... any links to photos etc.from the dealer's advert ?

Doesn't look lowered at all to me (neither front nor back) - need to see what dampers are on it ;)

Go drive it and see what you think.

Looks nice and good mileage.

everyones looks lower than pickles lol

give it a drive, i doubt theres anything wrong with it. Saxos arent the comfiest of cars to drive anyway so its probably his personal opinion. If something were to be wrong it would only be the shocks most likely

could be the dealer does not like the ride, could be blown shocks, could be a seized rear beam. Without a little investigation its hard to say..

surprised he mentioned that. usual dealer trick would be say nothing until you do, then say VTRs have tough suspension as they are sporty.

also, sidetracking a little, just browsed the auto trader specs, do VTRs really weigh 1360kg?? i thought they were nearer 1000. 1360kg?? no way.

that'll be the gross vehicle weight not the kerb weight, kerb is nearer 930.

Aright cheers guys.. He said he'd give me it for £900 so I think I'll probably go for it as long as it drives alright. Going all the way down to Newcastle for it but so I hope it's not a shed!

Yeah surprised me too, I got a bit suspicious that he might know it was totally fecked or something and was just kind of toning it down a bit
