Morning guys, I'm looking for some speaker upgrade advice. Recently I upgraded the dodgy standard stereo in my 3 door saxo, to a Sony HU with an output of 52 watt X 4.
I'm not looking to break the bank by going for components or amps or anything like that, I just want to upgrade the existing 13cm fronts, and the 10cm rears, with hopefully 3 way speakers in the front and either 3 way or 2 way in the back, so that I can enjoy music without distortion.
Any advice on what speakers I should go for would be greatly appreciated. :y:

You got part ownership in JBL or something? You keep pushing their products mate, he he.

Ashley, why do you suggest a 2 way over a 3 way speaker at the front? Surely a 3 way would give a better range of sound? And for the extra few quid.........why not?

Find me a 3 way component that's only a few quid more expensive than a 2 way.

that's before we've mentioned added instalation, you'd have to build speaker pods to have a 3 way component system

That's a coaxial speaker, I thought you meant 3 way component speakers.

I wouldn't opt for them, why?

- Kenwood speakers are pretty shit
- you won't see any benefit from having multiple drivers in one speaker, 2 way speakers cover the required frequency range
- if they were good, they'd be far far more than £25

I dont think you have read my original thread correctly, I'm not looking for components, I'm looking for coaxials or multiaxials is it do they call them?

or look at the other threads, been about 4 threads this week alone on this

They are good products for the price so he is just helping you out.

I would say go for JBL aswell.

But looks like you got your eye on other things so buy what you want and don't come and complain here afterwards

I've read your post correctly.

as in my above post, I honestly wouldn't opt for 3 way coaxials. there will be virtually no benefit of added frequency range, or definition in the sound (if any at all) in having 3 way coaxials. it's marketing BS as far as I can see.

Right, Kenwoods are shit, thats the advice I'm looking for. So........ Your suggestions please lol????

If you read the first link I posted, you'll see a link for some cheap, half decent coaxials

Good focal speakers are not cheap.

Muel, I'm here asking for advice on what to get. I got a few things I'm trying to sort and improve on my car, but If I dont get across my requirements initially then I wouldnt be happy afterwards would I?

depends what you'd call cheap, lol.

budget focals for around 60-70 a pair, and will sound alot better, i'd sooner do that than stick some £25 kenwoods in for the hell of it. but then maybe thats just me. lol

Right guys, I'm back, my next question is...........if I fitted the speaker you suggested, would I, at a later date be able to add a tweeter ?

Jizanthapus

Which speaker?

If it's a coaxial then no, as it already has a tweeter. You don't want ear piercingly high pitched sounding speakers.

Well, its possible lol.

But if you're thinking that later down the line you'll want a set of tweeters to improve the sound quality - I would just save up the extra and buy a set of budget components. Your ears will thank you :y:

exactly. Im sort of lost with what you are wanting to do but yeh - instead of buying coax's then deciding to buy better tweeters for them at a later date (?makes no sense?) you might aswell just buy components in the first place.
