accelerator pedal

ive just taken the horrible aluminium pedal covers off and fitted the brake and clutch covers ok.but ive come to fit the new accelerator rubber but there is a metal plate which has a pop rivet on it .do i need to drill this off to enable me to fit the new one.the new one has a clip and a guide on it.has anyone come across this before ?

theres 2 types of throttle a full metal one and a plastic one
sounds like you have the full metal one

they dont have covers as such
ive just grip taped my metal one

it looks like its only held on by a pop rivet though i was wondering if i drill it off the new one has a loop to guide it on and a clip that goes onto the bar.miffed by that one.

has anyone got any ideas?

Pedal has a rivet stucking out of it as well.
