Been considering my next car, again. Who are the japanese car specialists people would recommend. I'm asking rather than googling as some people seem to pop up with little insurance companies I've never heard of and they do cheapo quotes!!

Sky seem to be mentioned quite a lot. If it's a powerful RWD drive car they will quite happily tell you to fuck off until you have more experience, as will many others.
I've got the S15 with Admiral who, I think, have done a relatively decent price.

Sky are very good, I got a quote just a hundred more than Admiral who were ALOT cheaper than any other company. I would have gone for Sky, but I havent got that car anymore.

We look very carefully at the risk when insuring anything RWD but will look at 19 year olds on MX5's.. infact we insured a 19 year old on an AE86 this morning, he was a happy bunny, I was jealous! :P
We specialise in Jap Imports ' LOOK AT ME, TRY OUR SCHEME! ' :p

A man with great taste!
been getting quotes for my Evo 5 around the £650-£700 mark with admiral with no negotiations yet not bad for a 21yrold. may try sky but feel i may be bitterly disappointed.

i sometimes add my dads RX7 to the saxo policy for £18 a week with Elephant.
He doesnt insure it himself though and is the legal owner which i think brings it down for me.
traditionally Admiral have been good!

Fuck knows what's going against me with evos or scoobs! Currently have a golf gti mk5 which is 2.0 turbo I pay £600 fully comp yet I can't get under 3k for an Evo? Go figure. 24 year old with 4 years no claims and clean license also live in the best postcode thing

It's a very good price, we wouldn't compete against that rate I'm afraid. We do insure the earlier EVO's Evo1-5) for under 25's but for anything newer than an Evo 6 we are strictly 25's and over.

Evo's and Imprezas are about as high risk as it gets , as such most insurers (more so the specialists) have a strict age 25 or over policy. That is what is going against you.

Even with nearly 5 years NCB? I read that last part over and over and I still don't see why you didn't just say "we don't insure under 25's on Evo's"

At 21, it's unlikely but we will look at the risk if the customer has owned that Evo for a year claim free.

Because that isn't the case. We have a fair few of the early Evo's insured for under 25 year olds.

Ahh my msitake, the 'not' is not meant to be there, I'll edit.
To confirm though
Evo 6 or newer - age 25 or over
Evo 5 or older - will look at good risks if aged under 25.
Apologies for the confusion

May I ask why? Just out of curiosity. is it based on stats because typically the 5/6 is one of the last pureists evo's the ones that will let you play, the ones that will properly powerslide whereas the newer evo 7/8 is a much more restrained car that prevents most of the hooliganism.

I would never buy a performance car to "hoon" in on the IOM. I mean, de restricted roads are just silly.
My insurance should be lower :A:
Would the fact I live in the IOM increase my insurance on a performance car? I tend to find it is cheaper compared to anywhere in the UK.

Admiral have always served me well.
And I've had plenty of quick jap metal aged 20 and above. Worth a try.

It's all about stats, claims loss ratios are key.
