I agree that if you are after a decent SQ sub with a good power handling output then the above recommendation would top my list, a long with the JL W3. The JL is a bit cheaper but the power handling is only half that of the RE.

But just to comment on the above quote, the Orion is a much more SPL/Streetbase oriented sub and can very well handle that sort of power. I am unsure of why these subs have been going for so little as of late but they used to carry quite a hefty price tag.

You have to remember that the higher the power does not always mean higher value. Same as higher value does not always mean higher power. Take the Genesis Audiophile subs, £249.99 at Car Audio Direct, but have a handling power of 250w, that is less than a JBL GTO 1202D, but the SQ will undoubtably be much greater.

The Orion may have that sort of power handling but if the quality of the sub cannot keep up with the likes of the RE Audio SX and other subs in the price range then no-one is going to buying the products, so the prices are going to drop untill people do start buying them.

thats the only thing that puts me off buying RE Audio...you will have spend a good £400 at least to find an amp that will power it properly....cheastest one i can see atm in the JBL amp at £500....though my eyes my decieve me as ive had a few too many tonight

Correct me if I am wrong, but an amp that gives out 6-800w is all that is needed in order to power the RE. There are many amps for well under £500 that can give out that sort of power.

The JBL GTO601.1 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4134) gives out 600w RMS for £149.99

The JBL amp I suggested gives out 600 at 2 ohm, again correct me if i am wrong but isn't the RE SE dual 4.
