Hi

what is best way of removing chip fat (and the associated rotten smell) from upholstery? namely, from the boot of my bmw.

i have already fully stripped out the boot, all linings and plastics etc, and sprayed everything in soap and jet washed it, but it still feels very oily, and it stinks. luckily the boot is totally sealed off from the rest of the car, so its only the boot that smells.

any chemicals / enzymes / processes recommended??

well went over halfrauds, didnt really have much in form of degreasers for upholstery but found some spray foam stuff... grabbed a few cans of that. says it lifts grease and neutralises odours... which appears to be what is needed.

it appears to have got the smell out of the "non soaked" carpet.. the carpet that lines the boot floor obviously soaked up most of it, ive treated that a few times now and sems to have left quite a lot of grease on the floor outside.. so it must have done something.. smell appears to have gone too so ill see what thats like in the morning and maybe try again.. if not its gona need something a bit more potent.. or new boot carpet set.

i personly think its impossible to get it completely out.

my runaround was used as a kebab shop delivery car, drivers and pass seat where coated in it when i got it. used some foam spray that used to get anything out, didn't work. used halfords stuff that comes with the plastic brush. didn't work

used a wet vac, and some industrial strength cleaner, which is supposed to be used on a 1/50 scale, at a ratio of about 1/5, and while its worked to some degree, and i have done it 3 times now, its still there, just resorted to using seat covers

Try some neat autosmart G101 and a stiff brush.

How about a steam cleaner?
