Grunty? Deceivingly rapid? Comfy?

Ticking all the boxes so far, with fuckloads of torque, ~290bhp, and big leather armchairs.

Old man Jag... give a fuck?

Didnt pick it up wearing a suit and smoking a pipe. Wish I had though.

Feel free to ridicule.

Lovely cruisers, relaxing on long journeys. But they are heavy and that V8 guzzles it down hard.

Quite a few niggles on this shape S-Type as well, look for a well cared for version.

BUT don't go thinking they are quick just because they have a V8, they're really not :n:

EDIT- just realized you've actually bought it. In which case, fantastic performance and handling. Enjoy :P

lol im not expecting it to be fast, its not meant as that (though theyll take a charger nicely haha). As you say, its a big cruiser and it does it really well. Shame about the wood steering wheel and the abysmal tape head unit.

Sounds sweet as fuck even on standard exhausts and the engine is sooooo smooth.

My old man sold his STR for the V6 version, and yes they are very comfortable. The STR was rapid but the V6 not so much (I'm guessing the V8 is in-between!) Nice cars though hope you have plenty of petrol tokens (The V6 is averaging about 23 MPG and he drives like an old man)

True say.

Fuck racing around in a car like this, enjoy the relaxation of having a Jaaaaag (Clarkson remark lol)

I looked at S-Type R's a while back, lovely supercharger whine and decent power, plus quite cheap. Only shyed away because I wasn't ready for an auto box just yet.

It is a lovely car though mate, I'm sure you'll adore it :y:

Edit, taken from pornhub.com. I know its an R but still a V8 Jag rumble.

Get some straight pipes on it and it won't be so oldmanish ha.

Nice car though, guessing you got it for a good price.

Watch out for the plastic head lights they "fur" over quick (can be temporally fixed with toothpaste but it comes back)

Its getting a good proper cleaning on Friday - though I started the engine bay today hence the pics lol - few little bits to tidy up like a misty headlight as someone said.

Would love to try it with straight pipes and an open filter. Would be badass as fuck while playing Classic FM haha

Why did you go for this instead of a vag, bm, merc etc?

My auntie put one of these on its roof when they first came out. Was a nice car though to be fair even if the front end is a little of an acquired taste

See, I like older jags, not so much the ones in the middle, and I like the look of the new ones but the build quality isn't all that. But you have a V8, and I don't, is it just for swooshing about on motorways?

Actually been looking at these myself, as well as Jag X Type diesels as you can pick them up for peanuts now, and generally speaking they have either all been owned by business users or old men, meaning that 9 times out of 10 they have been serviced by main dealers and properly maintained

Haha I'll second that, one of my friends has one (V6), 23 mpg exactly and that's doodling around kind of driving. That said, nice and comfortable. Push it and you'll get punished in fuel bills, it also drinks oil when driven with a heavy right foot. Nice for main roads but not so much in town.

This, you're not in a hurry to go from a to b in a comfy car. Though I can think of other cars that won't make you look like you're 65.

You must be getting old...

In saying that, I've bought a Mercedes 190e. I am old...

Bit different from a bmw as theyre more common than fords now. Came at a good price with mot and full Jag service history.

Needs a charger though.

Could get addictive buying random unusual cars tbh lol
