I've seen a few of these for sale recently, and they seem really cheap compared to all the 'scene y0' Civics that people pay daft money for.

Does anyone have any experience of them? Obviously they aren't very nice to look at (very similar to a Rover) but what do they go like? 1.8 vtec 170bhp - they can't be that bad!
Do they have common problems? or is it just the pure ugliness that pushes the prices down?

That's what I thought. So, apart from looking fugly, they are good cars?

someone in my street has one, they don't look after it at all, and it just works

There's one of these in the car park for the unit next door to mine. That one has leather or half leather too, can't see properly without looking suspicious.
His goes quite well for a car of its age and size.
Look up the specs and you should find torque and 0-60 times etc, auto trader has this too

slower than a 206gti...

I have a 1.6 version in this style and it just goes, its horrible to look at, but as I do about 25k miles a year for work, its brilliant for that, comfortable.

I'm a fan of rover... So (not biased at all) I do like the look of these.
Handle well, go well(ish) and will last forever, and ever, and ever.

Shares a lot of parts with the rover 45, hence honda getting a bit pissy when SAIC bought MG. See below for an aerodeck conversion

Probably cheap as everyone wants 2 doors or the fabled type-R badge, but its not an unpleasant looking car if a touch bland in some specs

How odd...
Quite like it though. But is it a vtec or a k?

It worries me that a jap car can share parts with a rover and still be reliable!

Or that the rover can share parts with a jap car? Rover used Honda stuff, not the other way around.

I'd wager its honda powered as the 45 tourer never existed.
Rover used honda parts, hence the 216 gti of the mid nineties being powered by a honda 4 cylinder and their bigger stuff like the 800 all used honda v6 powerplants, so are thus reliable if you discount the rust issues.
Nothing wrong with a K series reliability if treated right, they just need more care than most engines

That's a strange looking thing lol

That's not so worrying then!
Just trying to think of a decent car for my next car and don't know alot about these. Toss up between 106 GTI/Saxo VTS or a mk1 Octavia VRS. Then I saw these.

Out of those, Mk1 Octy all day long. I actually quite like the Civic Coupes, not sure why though...

Do like the Octavias, I just think it would cost alot more to run than a vts/gti with fuel and parts etc
Not sure.

It has a de-tuned version of the Integra Type R engine (B18) and has a different box. They put out roughly 170bhp which is by no means slow. They use the same block and the Teg has wilder cams and polished ports in addition.

Not bad little cars and with plenty of potential.
