Better to change to a four stud set-up.
Much bigger choice of wheels!!

i dont think that the discs will fit a 3 stud pattern mate you will need to convert to 4 stud first i think but correct me if im wrong

The early 1.0 and 1.1 models with 3 stud used a slightly different cast on the lower strut leg. Difference being a smaller section of cast and therefore smaller bolt holes where the caliper bolts to it. Vtr/s/Gti calipers wont be a direct fit. im pretty certain that there is not enough metal to be able to safely tap out to a larger bolt size on these either.

You'd be best swapping the lower strut leg if you want to upgrade calipers. this would also mean that if you want to stick with 3 stud then you'll have to swap your hubs over with new bearings

And as mentioned above you're knackered with the discs if you're wanting to stay as 3 stud.

Better to save your pennies and convert to the full 4 stud setup from a VTR/s/GTi if you're serious about upgrading.
