Changing my Axle in a couple of weeks, I've got the new one here ready to fit - I'm trying to clean it up a little before fitting etc and will want to fit my 24mm ARB too..
Problem is that the arb end bolts with the 13mm heads are stuck in - SOLID
I really don't wanna snap the heads off because they're a total mission to get out then even more so than now!
Old axle isn't a problem as ones already snapped so ill pull the bar out that end,
I've soaked the new one since yesterday in plusgas, been out today and given it all a tap and so on and re- soaked in plusgas ..
Anyone got any other solutions?
That way I can strip this axle down as far as to then get my axle off and just swap everything over
Cheers

Blow torch heat or oxy? Lol
Also on the bolt or the surroundings to the bolt?

Got the one out thanks mate!
Not so sure on the other side, is it worth just taking the one side out?
I tried the other bolt and it started to move but it had that awful feeling of oh it's gonna snap, do I need both out to change the arb?

the passenger side bolt is holding the arb end plate, the drivers side bolt is holding in the arb

Does only one have the little plastic bung thing? I've undone the opposite side, the axles off the car so not sure which side I've undone, most likely the passenger one LOL

yeah only the passenger side has the little rubber bung. A good way to separate the arb end plate from the arb incase you didnt know, is to use a bolt for your rear dampers and wind it into where the rubber bung goes. That will prize them both apart as theyre splined together and can be a bastard sometimes

Awesome that means I've done the right side - ill bear that in mind though thanks!
May well rebuild my old axle. There's only a little play in one side and very minimal camber so I'm thinking I may well have saved it from damage, just new bearings - ill investigate further into that one,
Just hope the other end plate bolt doesn't snap - was thinking I may have it all off and grease it all up before re fitting, obviously not the torsion bars, Sod that haha

its not the end of the world snapping them gay 13mm bolts mate. Ive snapped the passenger side one twice now lol the first time i got it out with an extractor set. The second time it was a 'high tensile' bolt which werent having any of it lol took like 2 hours of drilling and tapping 1 thread at a time

Yeah just a pain for those reasons haha, I've used an extractor set before and it's just snapped the bugger and then it's game over, I guess if it snapped some heat and an extractor may do it

you may find just a little heat will get it out as its probably been loctited in, abit of heat will soften the loctite and it should spin out

I think I may have already began to snap the bolt though, may try getting it pretty damn hot as the first one was still really tight :/

if a bolt goes really tight taking it out, wind it back in wih loads of penetrating fluid and then try again...keep repeating if necessary
