I have had some bother with my insurance company. I took out the policy last September and got quoted £67 a month on my 1999 106 gti. In December I changed back to my old 1998 gti. They decided to put the price up to £79 month because I was driving an older car and said I had to take out a new policy which I had to pay £50 on top to do. They have now decided to up my premium to £88 a month because of an accident from 2 years ago even though it was declared on the old policy. I got extremely a
nnoyed with them and canceled the insurance with them. They are now demanding a cancellation fee of £177! Can they do this? I feel like I am being savegely ripped off. Is there any way out of this. I think this is just them money grabbing!

They're a bunch of f#@king ar#eholes! They tried to do the same to me when I told hem to shove their policy. They seem to try and apply the black mail trick every time! "I'm leaving... Oh if you leave you'll have to pay xxx, or if you stay we'll shaft you for a little less!"

what did you do about it? I've spoken to a financial ombudsman and all they have said is I need to write a letter of complaint to them. I have had a letter from one insurance solutions today saying I apparantly owe them £144 for a policy cancelled last July on my transit van which I could not afford to insure at nearly £300 a month! Just seems coincidence that they have started pesting me now because of this with adrian flux. Insurance companies are bastards :boxing:

When you take out any policy of insurane you will be fully aware of any cancellation fee's, whether they notify you of them over the phone or in your documents. They will also charge you for any time spent on cover with them.

If you're having problems proving who said what, ask for a full transcript of the call when you first advised them of your accident and advise them you will be reporting them to the FSA should you feel you have a valid reason and that they shouldnt have increased your price
