so i let my friend have a go at driving my 1.1 desire, on private land at his house, everytime he was shifting he was doing it wrong and was forcing it into gear, the linkages are worn yes but ive never drove it like that. eventually i told him to gtfo and let me drive, wouldnt go into any gear at all :( gear stick just wobbles around and i can hear some knocking when im wobbling it, whats happened? :( very angry, so called 'friend' doesnt have the funds to pay :@

Gear linkage, there are 3... its probably one of the smaller ones (small joints both ends) but you need to have a look to know for sure :y:

will i be able to see all 3 of these just by getting under and having a look?

Yeah, you will beable to see if the long gear linkage (to the gearbox) has come off by looking under the bonnet to the left of the battery going to the back of the gearbox as you look. Grab it and make sure its secure. If it is, then underneath directly above the exhaust where the gear ball joint is you will see where the 3 linkages should go.

more than likely to be one of the smaller linkages , might be able to pop it back on but I wouldnt expect it to last. Best off changing them

buying OEM ones works out more expensive anyway doesn't it? and wont be as hardly I reckon as the constella ones providing you use the clips

Yea i think so, i made my own but im sure the constella ones are cheaper than oem, and like you say with the added clips they are better!

took a look this morning, was one of the short linkages had popped off. i put it back on, wasnt a lose fit had to use some force. seemed okay after a drive. went down to euro car parts, all they could find was a control rod for like 40 quid. went to motor factors, all 3 would have come to under 40 quid, but found these on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GEAR-LINKS-ROD-KIT-3pcs-PEUGEOT-106-Citroen-SAXO-93-03-all-models-gear-linkage-/130846514131?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ASaxo&hash=item1e770f5bd3
will these be okay?
