View Full Version : Windscreen washers not working

For a while now both my front and back windscreen washers don't eject any water. I've tried filling it up as normal but nothing comes out.
I can hear the motor (I assume?) but nothing comes out.
I've taken it to a garage and they said it is probably the motor, but I don't want to risk buying this if this is unlikely to be the case.
If anyone can shed any light on this that would be great.
Also if it is the motor, is that the same as buying a new pump, is the motor included in the pump? Not too familiar with washer parts so it may well be a stupid question.
Thanks :)

Hi samaura, thanks for your reply!
I'll certainly give this a try first, sounds very logical! Would be nice if it is just that, save a few quid rather than buying new (possibly unnecessary parts) :D

The motor & pump are integral so are supplied in one unit mate.

So if I bought a pump, the motor would come with it? Or are they separable?

If you buy the pump its a sealed unit with the motor inside, you can`t buy either part on its own mate.:y:

Ah ok thanks for that - a few places I spoke either didn't know if they came together, or were adamant that they didn't come together. That makes things a bit easier, thanks!

Take the bottle out first could just be a blocked filter. And it's not a hard job to do. Buy a pump but don't open it. If it turns out u don't need it then you can allways send it back. If you do saves stripping it down twice ;)

Get a Pin and poke the washer jets with it, they normally block up there.

Thanks for the replies - I've ordered the pump already but will have a look at the pipes first and see if that's the problem. If so then the pump will be going back for a refund, would be nice to get some money back :)
