Got some gaz gold rear dampers on the way. Any one know how to strip the Blue rubber from the top. I want to vapour blast them and Clear coat them to make them look like new.

the blue rubber as in the bush or the blue plastic casing around the shock?

Theres a circlip on the rubber bush.

ring them, but you will probably get the lovely unhelpful secretary who may put you on to someone else or just say to you, send them in

Rang them and they are sending a "build sheet" to me bugger sending them back it's cheaper to buy new than it is a rebuild.

Would help me, i took some GAZ shocks off my old 1.8 16v clio, still sat in the shed, but looked a bit scabby to sell on, wouldn't mind giving em a service and selling em!

Don't know how well this is going to go so I will take one for the team and do mine first apparently they don't sell a service kit.

Post the thing up, and i'll do mine 1st if you want, mine are just spare and not going on anything, so if its a wreck, i have nothing lost :)

Just had a word with Wassy to strip then you need some circlip pliars to remove the bushes then heat the blue gator up with boiling water and slide off. The adjustment knob is a tiny Allen bolt in it but be very careful there is a ball bearing loose under it.

For those that were wanting info on how to strip these i got the "instructions" today. And are as follows. Why they couldn't tell me over the phone is beyond me.

Marcus,
You can remove the dust cover by warming it up with a hair dryer but I wouldn’t undo the top retaining nut under the cover as all of the internals will come out. You may have to push out the top bushes as they can stop the dust cover from coming off.

And that's ya lot lol.

Haha! Can't believe they couldn't just say that over the phone. The info from Wassy is more helpful.

I think this thread should be made a sticky, some really useful information and I particularly liked the detailed diagrams and pictures.

Looking good:y:, are you not painting the top part though? Tempted to do mine now, the anodised(?) finish they come in looks like crap after a while.

Yes will be painted when I get the top bushes from gaz. Needed somewhere to hold it whilst painting the bottoms.
