View Full Version : NEED HELP!! saxo drive shaft nut wont come off

right he is my problem i am a training mechanic and i am fixing my own car the problem is i am changing form a 3 stud to the 4 stud but the nut on the drive shaft wont move i also cant use the following idears:
screw driver in the brake disc to stop it spining at it does not have holes, cant put brakes on to stop it spining as i turn it as brake pipe is split and cant use air gun as i dont have one i other ideas are welcome as i am all out if ideas

Well I was gonna say get someone to sit in the car and hold the brake, but er my entirely sure what else you can do?

or even easier, put the car back on its wheels, with a wheel with no centre cap. and chock the car and undo

thanks i will try it the nut looks knocked in to the shaft is that normal?

Yeah, just secures the nut in place, stops it working loose.

kk does it need to be knocked back out to come free or not

just be a man and undo it, ideally you ought to replace the hubnuts, but if thats not an option swap them from side to side. and use a punch to nip the end back into the cutout in the shaft when done,
