Hi, my saxo (t reg) started making slight whining noises yesterday when changing from 3rd to 4th gear only. Today driving back from work it's making a constant squealing noise, like when a fan belt squeals, what could this be and how do I fix it? It's doing it whilst in neutral and whilst driving thanks

release bearing is shot mate, its a gearbox off job, while you're there its worth replacing the clutch at the same time

Can it be driven whilst its in this way? It's literally started tonight :-(

you can yes, but if it completely shatters you'll be without a clutch

Mines been like that for nearly 3 years and not yet gone but the noise disappears on mine once warmed up so didn't really bother me, obviously best option is get it sorted though.
