Will 225, 50 15s tyres go on a saxo without scrubbing anywere? Getting cheap track tyres on standard VTS wheels... Would spacers bring them out enough to stop them rubbing even?

cheers

No chance. They'll rub (everywhere) I'm afraid.

Vts are 195 how would a 225 fit on a vts rim??

Ross

You could physically get a 225 to fit on a vts rim but it will be very bulbous and handle like shit at a guess as the tyre flops from side to side...

I think a 225/50 would rub on full lock on the front, and on the back would probably rub on the trailing arm - and if you use spacers, would then rub on the arch.

a tyre machine

car isnt lowered in anyway though... so 205 is the max then in 50 or 55?

No chance.. Lots of work needed and more importantly the right offset

Don't understand why you would do that,195/45/15 or even 14 are the perfect size and you shouldn't have any problem to find good track tyres ...

what track tyres in 195/45/15??

So you think 195/45/15 would be good enough for my car on trackdays?

no decent track or fast road tires come in 45 profile in 15 inch you need a nice side wall fo sure

toyo t1r is your best bet thats what i run on my 19 and take corners and silly speeds in dry and the wet and i can barely get rear end to lift out on me :(

yokohama parada spec 2 are good in dry just dont go out in the wet!!

for 40 quid a tire sent to your door you can beat a t1r even if i scrub um off and bin them every 3 months its well worth it to me

sorry, T1R's are shit :P

If you can't get the back end out, you're not going fast enough.

spec-2's are better - they're fine in the damp but not great at channeling water away.

I run 195/45/15 Marangoni's. But for now I've got Uniroyals on. 185/60/14 on a 5.5j Rallye wheel ;) nice and spongy and loads of grip!

im sure i can go fast enough than most saxos! lol and paradas are shocking t1rs are immence for the price show me proof to the other wise? like any tire review!

you run Marangoni's and Uniroyals on. 185/60/14 on a 5.5j Rallye wheel i wouldnt listen to that! solid rubber like a 1800s dunlop push bike tire bet ya rate mitchelins as well LOL

The toyos have soft sidewalls compared to a proper trackday tyre. Not the best for track use.

Danny maybe you should go 9" tyre width like my car :D

Marangonis are definitely better than T1R's! On my Ouragan alloys I have the Marangoni on the front and T1R on the back, so I've had a switch around and there's a noticeable difference. the T1R's still slip all the way through second gear. this is on cold dry tarmac.

On cornering, the car understeers more with T1R on the front than the Marangoni's. End of story. (marangoni's have reinforced sidewalls too!)

UniRoyal tyres are grippy for straight line only. I fitted them because they are softer and more suitable for driving on the road whether it be mud, snow or heavy rain. I can floor it in first gear and not have them spin up on tarmac. (No they are not Rainsports because they're shit as well)

No I don't rate Michelin either. :homme:

Before you reply to my post and act like a dick head (which is what you're being just now) make sure you read it properly. :y:

p.s See the bits I've highlighted in bold? Try your best to make sense next time ok :y:

I'm in the process of trying to sort something out.. For 15" road wheels there's no need to go 9" width as there aren't any decent tyres that are wide enough. I'll probably go for 8" wide wheels. The widest trackday tyres I know of are 235/50/15..
I do whoever need to find some nice wide 15" slicks

well i get no understeer off them chucking my car which is hitting corners faster than most 106/saxos and then weighs more! cant even get lift off oversteer and i am ruthless on and off the throttle! i'll stick with what i no for the road and who ever says there to weak is probably right as round donnington i did all the sides in, in about 5 laps haha and no they weren't over inflated i agree to disagree ;)

and as for calling me a dick head when you don't even know me shows me in fact you yourself are a dickhead c**t who when doesn't get his point across gets all stressy well done you

i also highlighted everything you need to understand (y)

probably the car is lowered on standard rear torsion bars with uprated fronts (Gaz?)
Its characteristically dialling in understeer so its very possible this is whats affected the handling. If the tyres are matching all round there would be no change in driving style needed

Its for a track car, and was getting R888s cheap. I would get the Paradas but found them wank on my Evo... Does anyone rate them on a Saxo in comparison to R888s? Only for dry tarmac on a standard height saxo.

There are much better choices out there.. Have you decided on the size and profile your going to use?

Out of those choices, R888 are better.

I've tested on track:

-195/50-15 semislicks
-19/57-15 slicks and rally tyres

They rub a bit but nothing to worry about ;)
However I not advice to use this sizes on road...
