I put the vtr wheels onto my saxo. but the back wheels rub the arches and fuel line whenever i go over a large speed bump or even if i just have somebody in the back of the car. The wheels are only 14'' so i dont see what the problem is. Does anybody know what this could be?

Sure your rear axel/beam isnt shagged? Got any fat birds in your car?

Mine did this in my 1.1, basically the replies on here were that I'd had the VTR alloys off a MK1 saxo and I was trying to put them on a MK2 saxo, that was the problem, the wheels are a slightly different depth on a MK1, do you know what phase they came off?

Don`t think its the wheels the problem lies with the wheel bolts early & later vtr wheels use different bolts.:y:

Not to sure if they are off a MK1 or MK2... i never got wheel nuts with the wheels.. I had to use the ones off my old wheels.. would that be the problem?

Did you have steel wheels on before? The wheel bolts for the VTR rims have a flat seat. If the bolts you are using have a conical seat (as for steel wheel ones) you will have shagged the bolt holes in the wheel and your wheels are in danger of falling off!

In regards to rubbing, do you have the correct profile tyres on? VTR rims run an uncommon tyre size as standard (shared only with the mk4 fiesta). They should be 185/55/14. A common dodge is to fit 185/60/14 which is a much more common size. That extra sidewall height could be contributing to the issue.

Oh, and I run VTR rims on my mk1 1.4 sx. I have 185/60/14's on the front and they are close. I wouldn't run them on the back as I reckon they would scrub.

I see, i used the bolts that came off the MK1 VTR when i had mine because i had the locking nuts too, still a problem though. Got VTR's on the furio now though so its all good :p

Yeah i did.. So would I just be better off getting new wheels now? Yeah there is 185/60/14 on the back.. I didnt realise the tyre size when i put them on.. Thanks very much mate.. Been a great help :)

I would jack the car up (support it properly, not just on the jack) and pop the rims off. Inspect the bolt seats and the bolt holes in the wheels. If they are mismatched (i.e. conical bolts and flat seats) you may find that you have wrecked the seats in the wheels. If this has happened, depending on how bad it is, you may be able to get the seats drilled flat again (or drilled with a conical seat to fit standard type bolts). If they're badly damaged the rims may be scrap unfortunately.
Get these checked asap chap.

Yup, over tall tyres will not be helping your issues.
