Hey everyone

I have 2002 VTR with 95k on it.

I have discovered this weird noise on my car.
When i'm going past 20, under moderate acceleration, I have a sort of scratching/ticking noise coming from somewhere in the front left. It happens when accelerating in 2nd,3rd and 4th (couldn't get to 5th on the roads around here).

The sound is still there on the over run, but completely disappears when the clutch is depressed.

I'm potentially thinking driveshaft?
As the car seems to pull to the left a tiny amount and the steering wheel dives to the left when going slowly and braking. And it knocks a bit (replaced wishbones and drop links).

Or possibly gearbox?

Has anyone had this problem?

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

Sounds like seperate issues to me Futile.

The scratching noise when standing is the clutch release bearing and/or the shaft bearing in the gear box. (Noise vanishes when clutch is depressed)

The pulling to the left could be your left pads making slight contact affecting your car at low speed and when you brake, check the pads on both sides for any uneven wear..

Failing that I would jack the car up (on an even surface of course), then remove the wheel and have a play with the driveshaft, twist it around and see if there is anything visual that would point to the shaft being defective.. If you see anything suspicious then remove the saft for further inspection.. You can buy new ones off ebay for £35 delivered.
