When a gritter shoots past me it makes me cringe, I slow rite down or try and avoid it passing me...does the grit being flung at your car scratch it? And why is the salt so bad for the paintwork? Sometimes I have to park at the side of the road where a gritter goes bye regularly.

It's bad for the bodywork/paint work as salt is corrosive to metal perhaps?
Also, 'the gritter goes by' not 'bye'
