I think I may be attempting this myself this week but need to know a few things. Is it torxs bits that are holding the torsion bars in if so are they t40? and thread size M8x1.25?

Thinking to replace the torx bits with normal bolts make it bit easier to get off in future. So once bars are out do you measure from the back or front to set the height? other than that anything else to bear in mind apart from wanting to set it on fire due to things being seized

Before I tackled the job, a week in advance I soaked the bars from under the car in half a can of wd40, jobs easy. T40 sounds right off memory not to sure on thread size. Measure what ever you want for example I used the lower damper bolt to the shell, lowered it about 70mm. Just wherever you measure it from do the same and double check on both sides.

stick the tape measure from the top of the hub nut cap thing (the circle in the middle of the disc, not sure what its called) up to the vt arch. Should measure 400mm as standard i think

Gavlar ill send you a more in depth reply tomorrow

In the meantime yes they are T40 Torx, M8 with standard 1.25 pitch

Swap them for hex heads though with the same 10.9 tensile grade

Also Get yourself a wire brush for the gringer to clean the ends of the bar and lube them up with grease before re fitting (makes it easier to remove next time.)

And get half a torsion bar to use to smash the bars out with fits perfect so wont fuck the splines up.
