Al depends on how much shine you want and depends which polish you use

I use Gold Class to wash it twice weekly and Gold Class Wax every 3weeks and i use Paint Cleaner about every 2months and mine has a dam good shine on it. Also dont forget to your blacks as it makes the car look 100% better

Cheers

My routine on our cars is to wash once or twice a week, protect (with wax or sealant) every two to four weeks, clay every six months, and polish once a year (with abrasive polishes). :)

i wash it once a week, polish it once a month (but have polished it 2 or 3 times this month trying to get rid of swirls) and have been waxing it after every wash recently as im trying to build it up :)

while we're on this topic is it possible to over polish a car? is it bad for the paint work if you did it every week?

AG super resin and Meg's cleaner wax are both cleaner waxes ie: they clean the paint and add a layer of wax.

yeh u really want to use a wax to seal the paint instead of polishing teh car after every wash

Paint sealant is also an option instead of wax but iv never used it myself. Autoglym and Meguirs are probably the 2 most recognised brands, AG super resin polish is the muts nuts!

It is possible to over polish paint, but it takes while to do this. As I said above, if you protect your paint properly (with either a wax or sealant, or wax over a sealant) then you will only need to polish a few times a year at most. Note that if you polish regulalry you will never build up a decent coat of protection because you are stripping everything everytime you polish! I know Megs and Autoglym are popular, but believe me, the performance of the products is average, and can be bettered for similar money. :)

Woops I best stop polishing mine every week then, Haha. Get some wax soon me thinks.

What do you recommend for similar money to Autoglym but with a better performance??

Polish? Autoglym Super Resin Polish is awesome! perhaps try Meguirs if you havent used it before or try the Blackfire range from PB.

If you using wax you need to use an applicator pad really, megs sell them in sets of 2's for something stupid like 4 quid.. Or you can order a german one from polished bliss for a couple of quid. Once you apply it with the pad use a Microfibre towel to buff the residue off, after that it should be as smooth as glass. :)

other way around mate! polish after washing and then protect!

as polish will take the wax / sealant off! :)
