You can get cancer from passive smoking. A local pub/bar has stopped smoking on the premises (sp) and there sales have gone up 27% in 9months as everyone goes there for the simple reason that they wont be surrounded by smoke.

Another thing that annoys me about it, is people at my work that smoke... Most of them are great people, but because they have a 'craving' they are alowd extra time off to smoke, including the managment, whereas everyone doesnt have extra time off... over one shift it adds up to about 40mins of work they miss and still get paid for

That is a bit extreme, i think smoking in public should be banned, and a rise of the smoking age would help. I see so many 'kids' about 13-15 smoking on the streets

My gf used to smoke but i got her stopped and told her if she ever touched a smoke again id break up with her because it makes me sick. and you should move to scotland bud! its class! its now illegal to smoke in any public enclosed space, and an inclosed space is defined as any place which has a wall or a ceiling covering 50% of the space....so that includes things like bus stops and beer tents! :thumbup:

Ok so everybody has their own opinion, but the fact of the matter is we are all individual and whether we choose to smoke or not is our own personal opinion. no matter how much ranting and raving people do to you it will not make the slightest bit of difference. people will quit when they feel that they are ready to quit and chances are if they do it before they are ready they will only start again, beleive me i've quit twice and started again. as for banning it in public enclosed spaces, yes do this. i smoke at work but i sit outside in my car, when i'm out with people who don't smoke i move away from them if i want a cigarette simple. why should i inflict something that i like doing on people who don't like it!
