May sound stupid. Basically my rear beam and one of my front dampers are shagged out. I've got my gti donor car on my drive. Will my drive shafts from my 1.1 fit the gti hubs or will my gti drive shafts fit my 1.1 box? Any help would be amazing :)

Gti shafts are shorter than poverty spec models and shouldn't be used on a 1.1 box. Some people do of course and get away with it. Also depending on the age of both cars, you need to ensure that they both have flat or both have tapered hubs/shafts. Can't mix and match.

First time i've heard that :S

Presuming GTI shafts are the same as VTS shafts? If so a little worried :P

Yes - sports shafts are shorter so aren't so secure in the gearbox end but you can get away with it. The bigger issue is using the longer poverty shafts on a sports box (Vtr/VTS etc) as then the shaft is inserted too far into the box. Again, people do and get away with it, but it's not correct and damage has been known.

I only found that out a few years ago when someone i know tried to put a furio shaft in their rallye box

Its to do with the smaller diff in the non sport gearboxes

Rallyes vtrs vts and gti all have the shorter shafts
They do fit the splines
But are around 4 or 5mm too short to fully locate

It will only be temporary as I have a gti engine that's being built for my conversion. Then it will be on the gti box aswell

In this case ive seen gearbox loosing its fluid because of incorrecly seated shaft

Hope you never have the suspension at full extension then or you'll pull a shaft out.
