only 2 types of wheel brg
early type with smaller internal dia and later type which has larger internal
it is the hub drive flang which is different
should be larger internal at that age

Is the later type the one with the same thickness flange. and the early the one with cut outs in the back of the flange

so is it based on the age of the shell of the car or what struts are fitted to it? cuz my struts might be from a much earlier car than the shell? thanks for the help so far - sorry im still confused

right had a quick look around and as far as i can see the tapered wheel bearings were fitted to the later cars i.e. mine and the straight ones to the earlier ones. now ive swapped my driveshafts and wheel bearings to straight so as far as i can tell i will need a wheel bearing for a mk1 car

what's a tapered wheel bearing?? Do you mean tapered hub/driveshaft?

putting a vernier across the internal size of your bearing will resolve which one it is--then with that dimension go get one from a factor for about £12 or £20+ from citroen

If hes got flat seat hubs and shafts you need the earlier bearings

Age of the car is useless if youve changed parts to older ones
