gearbox prob!! help asap

im in need of help big style lol.
ive fitted my new clucth, got the box back on, every thing connected and filled. the box is in nutral with all links connected. the gear nob in the car is all over the place and you find it hard to get a gear! all the engine mounts are tight, as is the manifold bracket. but it looks as if the main gear linkage from the gear nob is catching on the manifold.
any ideas?

i had this problem on my 1.1i. i think its something to do with the bolt that secures the linkages together. my neighbour who worked for citroen had a look at it and said that it sort of messes up if the linkage is taken apart. i dont know if they do something in the factory that sort of makes it spring loaded. Hope this helps, if not sorry for confusing you.
