From what I've read I think they're having a temper tantrum, however the threats can't be dismissed and they definitely 100% have the capability of sinking South Korea, an Ally to the US.
The title is extreme, but it depends where both Russia & China stand on this, because if they see this as an opportunity to sink the US, they may be inclined to join in.
This would see us defend America and EU countries defending the UK, so would literally blow up within a matter of weeks

World war 3 will never happen.. Just like the Cold War, its all about playing the other sides bluff.. No one will nuke anyone else, because of the chance of retaliation.. Do you think we would risk a nuke dropping on London in retaliation, or the US risking New York?
The fear of retaliation far outweighs the reasons to nuke someone in the 1st place.. Which is why we have only gone to war with countries that don't have nukes..

Shame that alot of people are going to die because one person is an actual fucking moron.
I say, go stealth on his ass, recover him alive and trial him for war crimes or at least conspiracy to commit mass murder. Alternatively, two super trucks 5 chains... 2 for hands, 2 for feet and 1 for neck. Drivers plant foot to floor like they're going for a standing quarter.

With Nuclear launch detection systems and defences, two possible scenarios if a launch does go ahead:
1) Launch is detected and countermeasures deployed to destroy the threat before it hits it's target.
2) Countermeasures consist of a counter Nuclear strike against the aggressor.

I'm not so sure. I don't want to say it, but with so many countries with nukes, and the UK thinning everything out, I reckon it's only a matter of time. Having said that, alliances would be VERY interesting.

I often wonder who is really pulling the strings in N Korea though. I find it difficult to believe that this young kid is doing it all alone. I reckon the rabbit hole goes much deeper than him. Not necessarily outside of N Korea, but I reckon there are people who are meant to be advising him etc. that are probably calling the shots and using Kim Jong Un as a front or puppet.

Its not our place to interfere. We're talking about the US and UK though so you can guarantee that we will.

Come on man, the US were heavily involved in the Korean war, where it all started... Read up the history of it. Not to mention that South Korea are an ally.
Whatever the outcome China will continue to trade with who ever wins (or survives) and become the world power.

the yanks have more men stationed in South Korea 'just incase' than we have in our army. If the north invaded it would be equipment and training against insane numbers! But I don't think they'll attack. They never do! Also I doubt Russia and China would just into the fight. The west is too important to China for trade. Where as the Russian's are over communism by now!
Just my uneducated two cents.

Yes a well educated input...
Never mind the fact that nuclear fall out from there nuclear spat could render most of the world useless. Radiation into the atmosphere + trade winds + weather could equal most of the world completely uninhabitable.

Let's face it, something is going to happen and there is no good outcome.
Korea test fire a nuclear weapon and the UN place new sanctions. Korea have tested several times. At some point, the UN will HAVE to do something about it. What can you do about a country with nuclear weapons other than attack/invade?
And if the UN doesn't step in and do something, Korea will just continue to test nuclear weapons and advance their weapon technology.

The "Experts" state that this is a war NK will take to sea and that their sheer Fleet size will make them more than a formidable foe.
I don't think they'll set Nukes off, I think they'll go to sea and launch rockets at mainland Japan & SK from the Sea. The devastation caused by the time USA have deployed warships and physically got there would be more than enough to be in NK's favor.
I think I read somewhere that NK has something like 6 million troops? It isn't going to be as easy as people think

i work in a lot of 3rd world countries that have had wars/ fighting ages ago or still going on today but they cash in on at every chance they can through security, high prices, limiting western influence to drive up prices etc, import taxes etc etc etc
the threat of war/ security issues effects the world, look at what happened to petrol prices in the UK when iran threatened to blockade tanker ships. I bet there were some shady deals behind the scenes on that one by a few governments

That's how all politics works, mate.
Barack Obama doesn't control the US, David cameron doesn't control the UK, Joachim Gauck doesn't really run Germany... there are people above them and even below them that dictate a state, they're just a nice face for the party.
As for who has control over NK; You don't have to look very far north of their border to see. China supplys pretty much everything that NK needs to survive - power, food, materials etc. They're the ones who are in charge of the puppet strings
China also has a MUCH larger hold over the US than the media will tell you about too, they've been propping up the US economy for quite a few years now - without China, the US economy would crumble. China also needs the US to help it's own economy, China has been buying and selling the US dollar accordingly to keep control of the Renminbi and it's value on the international market.
NK won't attack the US, China needs the US, and the US needs China, but it's a nice tool for China to use to keep the US on their toes.

No. Like, seriously, no. If someone has nuclear capability and they make a threat, they'll be taken seriously regardless of whether they haven't backed it up in the past. However, they wont attack because they can't really, unless they are forced in to it, in which they will lose and they know it.
Look at the bigger picture. They have a population that has been starving for years, and the government have promised they will make it better. They haven't, so they blame America for stopping aid etc, so the people of NK begin to resent America instead of the government, as they are led to believe it is America's fault that they are starving, not the governments. The government then have to be seen to be deploring America et al, basically the people they have blamed for the starvation of their population, so the population remain onside. They wont attack however, they will just do what they need to in terms of threats to keep the people believing that America really is to blame.
If the population twig on that they're full of shit, they may decide to attack, at which point it will probably come down to who reacts quicker, China or USA. I reckon there is just as much chance that China will attack and assimilate NK. They wont want USA/SK occupying NK, because that will be too close, i.e. bordering China.
Basically, all this bullshit is propaganda.
EDIT: I honestly thought all this was China's doing, but I'm starting to think propaganda for the population.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM! Goes the dynamite! Lol. No, NK need to now launch an attack otherwise in the future they won't be taken seriously. Sort of their last chance before accusations of throwing the dummy out of the pram.

Nothing will ever happen.
No one is stupid enough to do it now. The whole point of nukes, is DETERRENTS!
2 have ever been used in war time IIRC.. The rest is all about "invade us and we will nuke you" Sort of thing.. Otherwise they would have just nuked the mountains in Afghan and stuff..
NK Will make nukes, but for 1, they don't have a rocket that can actually reach Europe, or America.. They haven't sussed out how to make them go boom on a missile, and well, i seriously don't think, no matter what they say, they have the balls to actually launch one, because they will just be erased.
The news in NK is put to what the government want them to say.. So they are just telling the people they are the strongest country on earth, and everything is going to turn out amazing for them.. Reality is, it never will..
Nothing will ever come of it, they will just be blocked off from any aid ad whatnot, and then it will turn to civil war, and someone will end up helping the rebels overthrow kimkim, and it will end up like Libya.
The news here also likes to scare people, so if we ever do go to war with them, then the country is all like "We better stop them, send the troops in"..
I bet my left testicle nothing happens.

Not a fan of the guy but the football songs being created are hilarious.
He's fat,
He's vile,
He'll sing you Gangnam style
Kim Jong Un, Kim Jong Un
Or
He's fat,
He's odd,
He thinks he's playing COD
Kim Jong Un, Kim Jong Un

They've been doing it for decades.
People are only shitting themselves now because they'll only believe what the media tells them, aka; if it's not on the news it doesn't happen in most peoples eyes.
If people weren't so naive and ignorant, and wondered what actually happens in the world, they'd realise that NK have been threatening the west for many years.

Can think of a few people to give that too ;)
That's what I briefly said, they have been threatening for ages, but now they are in the media spotlight, propaganda or not if they fail to launch anything they will just look stupid and be ignored forever more.

NK have already moved their missiles to the east and war was finally decided last night, you got to take in to consideration that Russia may join the party, they have waited many years for an excuse to burn America to dust.

They've moved 'one' mid range missile to the east, as most of their bases and military research centers are there. Russia have already stated their displeasure with this, any war would just effect their economy anyway..
Means fuck all, he's just trying to flex for the people so they all sing his praise. South Korea would handle them on their own anyway lol, their military is alot stronger than the Norths..

I can think of one major problem with this, Call of Duty would love WW3 to happen, imagine the games they can make after it all (assuming we dont all get nuked) theyve managed to get a good few out of each war so far so who knows!
The only real problem with more CoD's is the annoying little rats that like to give it over there mics!
CoD rant over :)

A nuclear bomb would probably take out half of a big city. Just look at Hiroshima and that was 60+ years ago so they've developed alot since then..
North Korea couldn't send any missiles directly from their country further than Alaska according to the news. So any attempt at bombing the U.S. would have to be done via plane and they would get shot the fuck down before they could even get anywhere near the West Coast lol.

You would hope so, In 1987 a teenage west german pilot landed a plane on the red square (next to the kremlin) he flew through a supposedly impregnable air-defence system and needless to say lots of people got the sack :A:

60+ years ago by the US. The biggest nuke NK have is tiny even in comparison to Hiroshima.
They can't even feed their own population. I read that the average NK teenager is 8 inches shorter than his SK counterpart due to malnutrition.
If war actually broke out I can see at least half of the NK army deserting them and running away, along with the population of NK, to China or SK. They know they can't win, they just want us to give them shit.

It was in response to someone asking the question as to how effective are nuclear warheads. Because he asked what would happen if some were fired against them. Already commented about North Koreas firepower with their missile range.
