iv got an 03 vtr, eml is on (has always been like it, not had issues with it )
lastnight car starts to run lumpy and smell of fuel, half hour later was fine.
early hours this morning its doing it again but whenever you try and plant your foot on the accelerator , it runs even lumpier and backfires and stinks to high heaven of fuel.
whats wrong with this french shit tin?

Plug a code reader in, another fault code may have come up

Sounds like coilpack is failing or a spark plug is loose - that would explain the smell of unburnt fuel and lumpyness.

Anyone know how much coilpacks are new?
Im going out to but a new set of spark plugs and fuel filter , anything else?

Plug a code reader in, another fault code may have come up
It has thrown up 5, 2 of which i already had .
PO300...random/multiple misfire (always had it)
PO420...cat efficiency below threshold (that came up when it went into limp mode last time, now i have 4-1 mani on)
PO135...lambda sensor 1 (unplugged)
PO140...no activity circuit for lambda's (unplugged lambda's)
PO141...lambda sensor 2 (unplugged)
reason lambda's are unplugged it went into limp mode last time and only thing what would stop it was unplugging them.
Erased all codes now, so will go out and buy what i need to buy and re-check it on the scanner and see what it brings up .

You posted above before i pressed send...
You NEED a lambda sensor, without it the ecu will just continue to throw more fuel in as it isn't getting a reading, you must be over fuelling like a bastard!!

as i said, i erased all codes, fit new spark plugs, changed fuel filter, plugged both lambda's back in and put some redex injector cleaner in the tank. took it for a good run up and down a dual carriageway. plugged code reader back in and not 1 code popped up, runs like a new car :) even my engine management light is off :y:
Hopefully thats the end of that matter lol
