Just need some advice as i appear to have been summons to court :(

quick run down...

August 09, bought a clio with renault 5 gt turbo engine, never drove it, left it sorn. Sold the car to a friend in Oct 09. She received logbook in her name, everythings hunky dory...

January 10, letter from DVLA for reminder of tax. wrote to DVLA and advised them i didnt have the car...

Feb 10 - All is good, not to worry. 'glitch in their system'

January 11 - letter from DVLA for reminder of tax - same again, spoke to girl i sold it too, she has since sold it on again.

January 12 - No letters :)

January 13 - Summons to court for not payin tax on a car i dont own. Sent all info to DVLA what they had sent me, still need to go to court.
Spoke to various DVLA departments, police and enforcement office and all advised not to worry. But still summons :(

I have the slip from the V5 from when i sold the car, also have been provided with from the girl i sold it too - a receipt of her acknowledgement letter from the DVLA stating the car is no longer regiestered to her. Shes also coming to court too!

Should i worry or not? Anyone ever had this sort of issue before?

Nah don't worry, sounds like you've got all the documents and receipts to back things up so it'll be dropped without any issues I'd have thought

I bought a car then sold it to a mate to keep the owners down he decided not to send the v5 off before he sold it on. I got reminders for tax months later, phoned up dvla they told me to put in writing that I didn't own the car anymore and any info I had. Got a conformation letter saying I no longer owned the car a few days later.

iv also been told that the car is still registered to me, when its had 2 documented owners that we can recall off since me. seems i have a battle with them but thanks for the reassurance. hopefully 'their own letters' should convince them of their mistakes.

Hate courts :( x
