lookin at a new sax. jumped in and had a fiddle wid the gbox, didnt start it as baterry was flat so this is a preliminary check.
Q. I engaged the gears, no noise from clutch and gears went in smooth, but while in gear the stick could move a litlle from side to side. Are the linkage bushes going or is it something more serious.???

i wouldnt worry about that mate, saxo gearboxes are alot of crap anyway, mine has done this ever since i got it a year and a half ago and it still runs fine. Nothing to worry about as far as i know, i could be wrong though, im no expert.

imo they are good gear boxes, they may feel flimsy but stand up to a bit punishment.
if anything mate it will just be the linkage bushs.
