Plenty of torque and they seem rather highly rated within the car scene.

yep looked at all that. insurance quote is very decent and also like the amount of goodies you can get on them. all that plus 50+mpg
just want to know more on the reliability side?

i heard watch out for rust at the bottom of the doors.
also fairly over priced in my opinion, alot better cars out there for the money.

Wheels corrode badly
You do get alot of toys for your money, a similar Milage and spec Audi would be at least 1k more in my experience
Nice to drive, easy to work on parts arnt bad prices
Has to be in that blue color though

I drove an estate recently. It was huge! Went pretty well as well. Loads of toys as stated, but make sure you get one with heated Recaros, not the bland standard seats.
If I had to spec one up I'd get a storm grey one with red leather Recaros. Nom.

I know of the wheels issue, my 'rents galaxy people carrier has the same issue (but on said wheels the problem is worse than ive seen on mondys!)
and by "that blue colour" im guessing performance blue?

I dont think overpriced for what they are. Also as top gear rate it so high id like to see what the fuss is about!

Estates are wider and obviously longer so it will be. Plus the recaro'd ones are where it gets pricey!

I just have a pov spec tdci, it's a decent car. Would definitely consider getting a better spec one next.
Only thing is the clutch problems (should think the ST's are the same - someone correct me if I'm wrong) but basically the clutches shat themselves and take out the flywheel and starter motor with it. It's an expensive job.

Injectors can be an issue which are not a cheap job to replace.
Clutches and flywheels on higher mileage ones.
Egr valves are probe to sticking.
50 mpg is slightly optimistic - mine averages 40 with mixed driving around town and motorway.
As with any car there is the common faults. Few other niggles but its a ford so cheap to fix compared with Audi or BMW.
They are much better value than the equivalent 3 series or a4.

Injectors aren't the issue,
It's the swarf coming off the diesel pump eating its self that kills the injectors,
Most people just try changing the injectors and low and behold it happens again down the line.
I'm on 185k no injector hassles at all.

clutch - gonna be issue on any high miles car anyway right?
egr valve - common problem on any diesel id solve that with a blank and map
mpg- estimate that over my fiesta? (1.4)
