Basically my dad passed on his car to have it sold for him. Car was sold then got a acknowledgement letter to say he isn't the owner of the vehicle. Now he got a letter in the post saying he wasn't insured. He had filled in a form to say the car is off the road and in a yard for sale.

Going to chase up on DVLA and ask them what's going on but in the mean time, what else could I do?

Had it been clocked by the police as not insured, or had he cancelled insurance, and had it taxed and not SORN it?
Is the date of it uninsured before or after the letter saying it isn't his?

As long as the date on the letter is after it was sold then he'll be alright. If its not he'll get done for not SORNing it

He had SORN'd it way before that date.

If he has proof it was SORN'd before that date, then you will have to send them that paper work, that, or they will take him to court to show it there..

Keep in contact with the DVLA and gather all your paperwork with the dates etc and they may see that its a misunderstanding.

See if you can contact someone at the DVLA who you can then have their contact so you don't get lots of people trying to sort it out

If it was SORN'd you will have the bit of paper, take that to court, as long as they don't have proof that it was uninsured for days before been SORN'd, then you should have no issues

Cheers or the replies. Popped into town for a bit but will let dad know. Might have already contacted them.

No i'm genuinely interested in what happens as I know of someone else in the same position, and I would like to know the outcomes of both cases.
