Does anyone on here work in this field of work?

I'm looking to get some of my AX engine bay parts re-powder coated or redone in the same zinc coating as standard. The place which I used to use locally has now closed and many other places only deal with bulk via business customers.

Does anyone work in this field? Could this be something that's missing from the affiliate section too that more people would interested in?

Not really helpful to your prob.. But if you're not in the clique or aren't politically correct 95% of the time then you won't get into the affiliate section

I know countless ppl.. Alot of them have contacted me personally to find out "what you have to do to become and affiliate"

As you just get ignored

If that's true I think that's a great shame...

I was logged onto another forum the other night and noticed they had a lot of affiliate companies and each company was actively creating offers/group buys, seemed very popular with users and was clearly generating business.

I read a thread on DW last night with a guy rebuilding a golf engine (extreme) and bought a kit that allowed him to zinc plate all the nuts and bolts etc.

Honestly man, I don't think that's really the case is it? ;)

It's not my call, but we can't accept everyone as an affiliate, otherwise the site would get overrun!

100% agree, it is something I looked into, and have just been ignored.

I now link most of my customers onto the rallye register forum as I have not been banned from having a forsale thread over there. I am doing good business on that forum.

It is true I'm afraid, and Craig I can appreciate your position and what you need to say on the matter but there's no two ways about it really.

I've been on lots of forums that have the same qrty, members love it, helps out small businesses and gets cheaper products for members, not to mentions revenue for the forum

Should be the more the merrier.. If ppl apply who offer the same services another is providing then yeah.. Knock them back

But even still, a simple no would of done me.. Ignoring ppl is really unprofessional and leaves ppl in limbo :n:

I'm sorry if you have been ignored. You know the situation with Simo working abroad though and he has the final say.

Rest assured though, we are working behind the scenes discussing ways in which we can integrate small turnover sellers into the sale OR affiliate sections, so please be patient and bear with us :y:

Been told this a few times.. Yet it's been a year since it was being discussed, and countless members have come to me in that time.. As well as just last week

And in that time bsm Citroen has been taken on, so you can't really dispute what I'm saying on the matter really

And Scott was viewing before and didn't see a prob with what I posted??

Nothing on you mind Craig, when I was originally asking you and ryan did try to help me out where poss which I was grateful for

Hey Matt, there's a place near Mallory Park that we get all our stuff done, they do a proper job, the quality is second to none - you can tell just by looking at the product that its a top notch job. Drop me a text to my Oz number for more info mate :)

I gold plate my own components no problem. Same principle applies to most plating. Can copper/silver/gold/zinc etc. For small items like nuts and bolts, it's easy :)

Ross is this something that you do for work? Or have you bought a kit from somewhere to have a crack yourself?

There's a few kits available through eBay which were recommended through the bloke who did his on the detailing world link.

Very tempted to have a crack at the zinc coating myself.

Josh do you still have the same OZ number as you've always had?

I do it myself just for my own bling -not for trade. I've done quite a lot (see my progress thread) from bolts, to small plates, hinges, iphones, even my 3/8ths ratchet... :p

My kit was around £300 if I recall - from "Gold Solutions" - but can do a lot of different materials and has a good variable power supply so is a little more expensive.

Would like to have a crack at this myself as well.

I think it turned out rather well :D

Here's my brake fittings:

And some bolts I did for Wassy's car:

Overall, I think it's awesome. But make no mistake, it's all in the prep. The plating is the easy bit...

Cas coatings in bradford as Andy_k said are the daddy for powder coating . IIRC they were powder coating engine and suspension parts for subaru rally uk as well as eibach

If you want to use them willsy I get a discount from them.

They also do a Zink powder coat for steel parts before the colour of your choice for extra protection.

This bits look awesome Ross! Which method do you use for the prep? Did a bit of research earlier and there's the usual sand blasting which comes up pretty often or some acid type dip or some electro method thing

I can vouch for Ross's work, he done this to my iPhone. He polished it yesterday to turn it back into a silver mirror finish. This was his gold plating;
