Getting close to having most parts for my budget setup but just head a though......

The basic turbo setup is the turbo sucks in air and then pushes it through the I/c then up to the throttle bodie

What about having the turbo sucking the air from the cooler the it can redirect the air straight to the inlet thus causing alto less lag?

The air is still passing and cooling through the I/c but before the turbo?

Just a thought. Please let me know what you guys think :y:

so what will you do about the really hot boost charge?

The intercooler is after the turbo as the turbo heats the air up
So of you put the turbo after the intercooler you might aswell not run one....

As Alex said, the turbo is the factor that causes all the heat, so you might as well run no intercooler at all

If you want boost without lag then go for a supercharger setup

Think of it this way, using unrelated numbers
10 degree air going into car, into turbo, coming out at 80 degree in car.
10 degree air going into car, into intercooler, coming out at 10 degrees because its the same ambient temperature that the air is cooling. Coming out at 80 degrees into car.
Or 10 degree air going into car, into turbo, passing intercooler, coming out at 20 degrees into inlet.

Oh right I get you cool thanks guys :y: was just woundering if it would work.
what about adding a water mist injector instead of an intercooler?

why dont you want an intercooler?

water meth isnt going to be a viable option

if you dont understand the basics of how a turbo works are you sure you want to be fitting one??

My mates drag car runs no intercooler and only water/meth injection.
Hassle on the road having to top it up constantly I would assume.

Correct
Plus you can just use plain water which i think is what the op thought

You need the meth in there making it expensive to do on a car used daily

I guess you could try to build a custom housing for the turbo which has an oil or water jacket with a massive capacity to cool the turbo, but it would still need an intercooler. Modern turbo's have that anyway but i'm guessing its usually plumbed into the normal engine oil. Probably just extends the service life of the turbo :D

Cool thanks guys :y:

I'm confident about building a turbo setup it was just a few thoughts
