I know this is a concept but it looks rather impressive on the looks department!

It's just a shame that it won't come over to the UK...

What do we think?

Looks shit tbh, completely lost the whole scooby look

looks like a dodge charger. Bit too snub nose for me. From the side it looks gash.

Reserve judgement until they make it in the flesh, since the hatch I haven't trusted subaru designers at all, and that's from an ex-owner/fanboy!

By these pics though, certainly has potential.

Looks suspiciously like an AutoExpress render, and we all know how reliable they are!

Audi from the front, jag from the back and mondeo from the side, I do love the rear defuser/exhaust though.. Overall not mad about it.

Prefer the older shape...to modern...

griff_106
27th March 2013, 21:47
No big wing and no gold wheels. I'm not sold personally... lol.

Srsly though - it looks pretty good. Nothing compares to the burble of the old Impreza's and nothing ever will IMO... the UK market won't be getting them but that just means there's a market for a company to set up shop importing them etc.

At least there's talk of the flat four returning :D

And the back looks like a chavs wet dream

Don't like it they should just remake the P1 with more modern parts and more power, not that horrid looking barge

BennWilson

They should never lose the scooby look everyone knows and loves

devilsadvocate

I quite like it, other than the exhausts which look awful.

CHIP

Baring in mind earlier scoobys look like dog shit with small wheels and no spoiler i'd say this would still look a lot better with smaller wheels.

People forget the older Scoobys look shit unless they're modded/3 doors.

I like it. I like it a lot.

Loads better than the current poncy hatch they brought into the UK.

Won't be long before we see these being imported.

I'm sure I read fairly recently that Subaru are stopping the Impreza's and concentrating on the 4x4 market.

Conflicting articles if this is the case.

In the UK, Brettles.

I dont get that logic, surely we had a reasonable market for the impreza?

Jazz

We did, until they brought out the hatchback and we all started to lose the love.

Subaru are now selling up the BRZ coupe which is looking to be their main model at the minute, along with the Forester and Legacy.

This new Impreza has the potential to be desirable though, if the interest is there when they unveil it at motorshows then they will certainly consider importing them again.

Something about impreza's that bring out the inner child, I want the yellow exhausts!

Still need a big rear wing though!

stevo67
28th March 2013, 19:48
Ugly as hell, wtf has happened too the wing mirrors. The new look model I couldn`t imagine ever being used as a rally car.

Gandi699
28th March 2013, 19:51
I think it looks alright, exhaust tips dont need the colour though. Once they put a spoiler on it it'll sell

Its lost its rally car looks but I quite like it. Looks like a black edition merc. Evil v8 type car. I think there moving it away from "rally car for the road" and more Nissan gtr type car.

GolfJay
28th March 2013, 21:57
Would someone like to describe what a rally car looks like?

wolf_gsxr
28th March 2013, 22:04
Like an old scooby or evo etc. looks like its got stuff bolted to it. Function over form etc. old scoobys look good because they look purposeful. Wide arches, massive wing, huge bonnet scoop. Looks rediculus in a good way. This doesn't look rough and ready. Could you imagine that new one covered in mud and still looking good?

Only the Subaru's road version has this stuff though.

Citroen's road version doesn't
Volkswagen's road car doesn't
Even Mitsubishi's road version only has the spoiler.

No cars "look like rally cars" on the road because the rally cars are just modified road cars.

I really don't get this "Doesn't look like a rally car" comment

But yet all the early generation Scoobys had was a gay spoiler, a crappy bonnet vent annnndddd... That's it - unless you got a p1 or something. A standard Turbo looks crap.

It looks pretty decent - it's just another 'oh no, it's not what we're used to, it's shit' moments.

I'm not slating the new one I really like it but could you imagine it painted white with sponsor stickers plastered all over it doing a rally stage? The Citroen and the ford don't look like rally cars because there just normal cars. To me the impreza (22b) especially is like a ford rs200. Built as a rally car and than produced as a road car so it could enter the race. Rally car first road car second. Where as the Citroen and ford rally cars share nothing but a body. You can't to my knowledge go to ford and buy a 4wd 2.0 turbo focus. The impreza you can.

I'd never go as far as saying a 22b is like an rs200. The Ford was designed for rallying from day one, the 22b is still an old mans saloon then altered. Not saying it isn't desirable (although it's not really my cuppa) but it'll never, ever have the desirability of an rs200.

Fuck 'em, this is what we want.

UK built Revolution Project STi, built to beat a Nurburgring record for scoobys set by Tommi Makinen. 2.2 Cosworth stroker, 508bhp.

This is what Subaru Imprezas are all about, being a bit mental and not conforming.
