View Full Version : Removed Texton alarm ECU - consequences?

Hi all,

The siren on my VTS had been disconnected by a previous owner some time ago and due to a slightly dodgy central locking actuator, the alarm kept going off.

As the car is going to become a track car, I've completely removed the Texton box behind the dashboard (held by rubber strap, one brown connector, one white connector).

Does this only disconnect the alarm, and can I now remove the associated wiring along with it? What will happen if I have to disconnect the battery?

The central locking still works without the box, and the engine still starts fine too.

Cheers,
Nick

The immobiliser is in the key and the barrel so that should be okay. Disconnecting the battery should make no difference.

Cheers Nick. I'm going to disconnect the battery tomorrow to make sure the alarm doesn't re-arm and everything still works. When I know its all OK I'll remove the associated wiring for it and the button in the dash.

How did you get on with this mate when you disconnected the battery? Got to change my engine in my vts and the fob don't work nor central locking so I'm going to have to take the alarm of as I don't really need it tbf
