Been looking at new cars for a while and turns out my next door neighbour is selling his sisters pug 307

Its a 1.4 petrol on 111k

Hes asking 1200 for it which is a lot i think, can easily get it down though

Full service history with recent cam belt change

Anyone got any experience with these? Only buying as a run around just a bit put off by the high mileage, are they a tu engine?

Cheers guys

Small engine for the weight... My neighbours had one for a while, apparently it's not too bad on petrol but that's about it. No frills.

Very gutless because of the weight. Drove one once and it was a nice ride but not exciting but I'm sure you don't expect it to be.

Yeah thats what im after for a bit anyway

Being at uni and running/fixing the saxo is becoming a joke!

Just want a car for 6 months - year thats cheap to run and might be boring while i save for something else.

I keep spending everything ive saved on the saxo lol

I'd personally keep the sax.

307s are horrific

£1200 for a 1.4 petrol with 110k, that is not a good deal, for that mileage you want to go for a diesel, regularly there are 2.0 and 1.4 HDI's going for less than that with similar mileage

MrChris

Yeah it did seem steep

Can easily get him down i think hes bought it off his sister to sell on, so only cutting into his profit

And ive got a dead 206 that i paid 80 for to px against it (hes actually interested in it haha) so wont be paying much cash at all

i have the 2.0 hdi 90 (remapped of course) I've had it for a year now. only thing i've replaced was a brake light switch and the regular service. i'm keeping this temporarily because its so cheap to run, tax, insurance. with me being at uni, i'm saving up for my next car.

people always say they're shite, they are but at least mine's been the most reliable, cost effective piece of shit I've ever owned.

Don't do it - just don't.

We've got 307 xsi, 40k - drives like shit yet has been well looked after. Not a fan at all...

Theres an 8v and a 16v model... 75bhp or 90 bhp

Luckily this one is 16v

Its getting a fresh mot today, so if nothing else its got a years ticket

Will test drive soon and see what i think

They are decent cars that have some electronic faults apparently.
My mum bought one on like 10K in '02, it was a 2.0HDI 90, she serviced it about once every 30k and crashed it at 130,000ish miles having had it never put a foot wrong.

All i can say about them tbh. The 1.4 lump is a TU, its basically a big furio thats more comfy, quieter and with a more reliable suspension setup on the back.
If you can get it for a grand go for it providing its got lots of test and tax.

General Saxp consensus is that every car should be worth about £300 but really any thing for a grand is pretty decent if its tidy.
If the paint work is mint and interior is clean, if they can prove the cambelt go for it.

Edit to add just read its a 16v, not 8v. So pretend its a baby VTS!

Yeah i read about electrics as well.

Should hopefully get it for less than a grand

MrChris

Its a 53 reg and wont be driven hard at all

Few motor way journeys to uni/home and to get 10 miles to work

As for looks theyre not that bad, could be worse

I'm sure there was someone with a quote in their sig that read something along the lines of "Every time I had to drive my 307, death seemed like a more favourable option". Sums then up nicely! Just get a better Saxo they aren't THAT unreliable. A 307 is a step down in terms of reliability. And £1200 for one that's over 10 years old with over 100k miles is too much.

That was my sig, quoting someone that had a 307 :y:
