harness eyebolts

Hi guys!

I've always believed that harnesses should mounted to the C pillar or to a harness bar, thus having the harnesses the same level as your shoulders, well near enough.

Some people mount the shoulder straps to the floor where the belts for the rear seats attach, but I was always told that in an accident your spine will explode due to you being compressed into your seat.

So my question is, should I mount the shoulder straps to the C pillar or to the floor?

And also what size thread on the eyebolts should I need?

id go floor over the c pillar, know loads with the floor, not many at all with the c pillar. Just kinda thinking if you rolled the car and the c pillar was crushed what would happen?!

couldnt tell you if your spine exlodes though. or whats right or wrong

Yeah good point, what would actually happen if the C pillar crushed, you'd be fucked lol

It doesnt actually explode :) but apparently you can damage your spine.

Whatever the situation, a harness saves your life in a big accident but will always break ribs and collarbones with no mercy.
I would suggest mounting them to a cage bar. In a non caged car, mounting them anywhere like the rear mounts will just make them relax in the crushing of that area. And let's be honest a saxo will fold like a can. I can't think of anywhere decent to mount a harness in a standard saxo.

It will be caged eventually as my confidence improves on track.

But for the time being it looks like the floor maybe the best.

There is a picture on the angles of harness mounting its in the msa k section if im correct...

It's the actual eye bolts I'm in need of help with more so than the belt positions.

I need to know what size to order
