This is new to me in 10 years of having 2 saxo s how ever pull her out of garage and noticeable leak of gear box oil it's the drivers seal where drive shaft goes in loads of gear box leak now how easy Is this I'd like to fix it with gear box on car please help thanks

Wheel off
Hub nut off
Ball joint off
Driveshaft out
Push seal back in
Reverse

Cheers guys so your saying push the seal in then pull it out I don't want it to fall in gear box tho

The seal is like an a large o ring that sits around the driveshaft.
The only way to put it back in properly is to remove the driveshaft, place the seal back tightly in the box and then insert the driveshaft again

it wont fall in the gearbox, by design it cant

Ok I understand ok well I'm going to get the part now so ill jack it up take wheel off driveshaft nut drop lower are pull driveshaft out then the ring that's leaking thats on gear box will pull off correct the re put new ring then every thing back IS THIS CORRECT JUST WANT TO DOUBLE CHECK THANKS

drain the box oil first if you are going to keep it or it'll run out

Just rang my Pug dealer he says the name of it is called a driveshaft gearbox seal so I'm waiting for phone call back apparantly the 106 pug is the same don't have a clue lol

lever it out with a screw driver, then tap the new one home with a big socket just taking a bit of care.
Pug 106 is the same as is the cit AX

Don't forget to undo the intermediate bearing carrier for the drive shaft!

Between the gearbox and the first cv joint iirc. You'll see it as its pretty Hard to miss

i have just bought a drivers side seal for £3.49 from local motorfactor £11 seems abit steep

Make sure the one you get is spring loaded as alot of places sell the rubberized one which perish alot quicker and still leak.

Ax caged ones got the vote from me, paid 8 quid from eBay for one. Not fitted to my current box but will do when I need to change as have used them before

Bump drive shaft is out I can't get the o ring out with a screw driver it's tuff in hear box

Just force it, you don't need it anymore so no need to worry about damaging it.

Tom where did you buy them from that's so cheap
got it from a local motorfactor called eu linco get all my parts from there unless its something fairly big i need i.e clutch,water pump,cambelts ect then i go to gsf as they tend to be cheaper but take 48hrs to deliver eu linco is 2 mins away :y:

All done now think I may do it against as when I tap the new one in the o ring rubber got a little bit hanging out so I've got a little gear oil still leaking so ill buy a new one next week :(

Rich this one was from main dealer them selfs on the rear was a smaller ring that look like a spring
