3.5L Twin Turbo with a cheeky trick for the new emissions laws... Oh I want so much!

Tell me it's going to be RWD (not 4x4), PLEASE!

Yates

Its going to be rwd not 4 x 4

looks smart, 350/370 on steroids

unfortunately not... awd

but it does seem to emphasise that the majority of power is put to the rear of the car, may not be a bad thing....

Its not THAT expensive for what it is either.
That sort of power is definitely deep into supercar territory, and for between £50-60k.

Looks really nice, almost looks like the styling had been taken from a Corvette.

I fail to see how manufacturers can justify still making high powered petrol cars now though. Surely it's only really the elite that can afford to run this type of car.

Why not concentrate on higher powered diesels?

How much did the last supra cost when it first came out?

Because only bell ends want a diesel engine in a sports car

It just looks like a bigger GT86. Nice, but nothing spectacular.

Thanks for that valuable response.

50mpg+ and being able to rinse a lot of other cars, I'm sure only a bellend would want to do that.

Can you imagine the upwroar if say the new Lamborghini was a diesel. People would think they've gone mad.

The Supra has always been a stupidly fast car that could be had for less than the average repmobile.

Eco engine would just be stupid.

Yeah a Lamborghini (super elite) is a bit of a hard one to imagine having a diesel, I will grant you that.

Would be a whole new meaning to the term 'smoking someone'.

I dislike diesel cars. Driven many, even a few fast ones and they're just shit to drive IMO.

Only a bell end brings MPG into the equation, even if my workmobile was 10.000bhp i would still rather drive a petrol, diesels drive like shit, sound like shit, and smell like shit.

If a manufacturer was looking to shift more cars then the market for a performance diesel would surely be the way to go. More people can afford to run cars that are more economical on fuel naturally.

I've always been a strong believer that its a false economy here.
Yes, it will be cheaper, but by how much?

Take into account the fact diesel cars are considerably more expensive to buy, the fuel is more expensive and if it was a performance orientated diesel, the tax isnt going to be cheap either.

How long would it take for you to make back the money you would have saved if you were to buy a petrol? Probably a good few years, given that you do a fair amount of miles.

Also, Say something goes wrong with a derv, its going to annihilate your bum hole.

True!

Plus if you only do short journeys the dieael mpg can be pretty weak anyway! Especially if it was a large diesel engine!

Looks awesome, should deffenatly be a rwd, says awd with small amount of power going to front.

Nice car but don't think they should put the supra name on it, looks nothing like a supra should but that's just my opinion.

Spot on! To take advantage of a diesel you need to be doing 15-20k plus really.

Get on my tits how many people want a diesel to save money. They put £20 a week in their petrol car so trade it in for peanuts, buy an overpriced car loose a few k in depreciation in the first 5 minutes then put £18 a week diesel in. Oh and they save £60 a year on the tax. Really does make me laugh.

Edit: factor in depreciation and I can run an 8 year old 4.0 v8 for less than a brand new city car that does 60+ mpg.

Bound to be big power as the masses are hankering after something to wry the appetite after the under powered gt86 fiasco. This will sell in droves I bet if its priced right and it looks the business!

Jap manufactures seem to be coming back to sports cars, no bad thing in my book.

This, and the rumors of a s16 have got me hopeful for the future, couldn't bare to live in a world full of boring eco cars.

Now we just need an NSX revival...

wolf_gsxr
6th April 2013, 09:21
That's true about the false economy. An good diesel cars are the reason diesel is more expensive now. 10 years ago diesel was cheaper because diesel cars were wank. Now there quiet and fast so less people are buying petrol cars and therefore petrol. Also I owned a vauxhall signum dti and I got about 50 miles to £10. I'm getting over 40 with my cupra and I'm driving it faster than the diesel. Also if the diesel breaks its 1k for a pump and £260 each for injectors. Il never own another diesel. Anyway... Loving the car but the gtr is still king.

Ooh yes! Only problem with that though, is the baby super car the nsx, cars are bridging the gap too closely with the likes of the r35 GTR

You sound like one of those chavs with a remapped Bora diesel that thinks its shit hot but in reality its only about as quick as a vtr it just feels beefy at 2500rpm.

The problem with diesel engines is they are inefficient at accelerating. A diesel bench engine can run all day at 1500rpm on a drip but begin to vary its rpm all the time and it guzzles it. consequently, performance diesels don't work that well, your power band is bad, they sound bad, cost more to buy and fix then are only frugal on a motorway trawl.
