I have recently used a product called 'Forever Black' It's a dye that you put on your faded grey trim and it brings it back to black forever, Also contains UV protection to stop them fading again. I applied 2 coats of it and it's very easy to use just comes in a little bottle that has a sponge on the end, bit like a large bingo dabber and you just sponge it on. I am very impressed with the results and my Passat actually looks newer now all the trim is black again. Can be had off Ebay for £15 or they have a website I think if you search on Google.

Not very good photos, I did put some back to black spray on the door trim in this photo. But the bottom plastic is faded.

That's white expensive considering you can use either a heat gun to restore the trim back up, and some cheaper stuff. Or for a little bit more you can get c4 which is permanent. But did it works let us know on durability.

But what percentage of people have a heat gun just laying around? You'd have to buy one which is probably more than £15? And Forever Black is permanent. It's done a fantastic Job. Meant to be able to do 4-5 cars with just one bottle as well.

I've used a heat gun on bumpers before, that works well. Saxo grills fade badly, I've actually sprayed mine satin black. This could be helpful stuff, I've seen and used some but didn't have that good of a result.

Gtechniq c4 always does the trick for me, little dab on the pad goes along way and is good for about 4>5 months on mines.

I was skeptical when I started putting it on but did 2 coats, woke up this morning and had a look and it's dried and looks amazing!

Got my heat gun for £10 in lidl, one of the best buys I own. Just used it to heat the trailing arms to knock torsion bars out. Badges off, nice little tool everyone should have one. But I do see your point. Let is know how long it lasts then we can work out true cost.

Well I'm hoping it will be permanent as that's what it says. But will see I suppose :)

Would anybody recommend spraying (professionally) faded bumpers etc or not worth the effort or money ?

Sort of conclusion I came to was a little concerned with heat a flex in the bumper and whether it would be money wasted obviously there's good and bad spray jobs

Autoglym bumper gel is good stuff
But it doesn't last so needs redoing regularly
I have been using 'Forever Black' for 4/5 years now.
Use it twice a year.... still on the original bottle.
Got to make sure you prep properly with the supplied cleaner/degreaser to get the best results.
And don't apply in direct sunlight as it will dry to quick and be patchy.

Exactly, Forever black is a permanent fix and well worth the £15 I'd say. Going to do my partners Mini with my bottle soon, says it should cover 4/5 cars.

It does permanently dye your black trim but obviously If you want to get that deep black 'fresh' look again you can re dye them. But they should be permanently black even if you don't re dye them.

I find it quite good if you give the plastics a good clean first. Also, dont put fuckloads on, and make sure you buff it off well otherwise it seems to attract shite.

The heat gun trick was rubish on my faded trim. Yes it did bring some parts back but where the black has worn off and shows the grey plastic bumper underneith then it didn't do anything.
