View Full Version : Keeping the keys dry
I'm guessing because of the immobiliser chip the key has to be kept dry?
When surfing, what do you guys do? Some people have said put it in a jonny and knot it but that could get expensive. Any other suggestions? What is fully waterproof?
My immobiliser light is on so I don't think it works, so could I drown my key?

I don't go surfing.
The kite surfers near me have a padlock style case that attaches to the towing eye. It has a combination lock on it, seems very popular. I've also seen kayaker's(sp?) using them.

Most wetsuits have a key pocket at the back near the zip.
I would keep all my keys in the car and lock the keyfob inside the pouch and put it inside my wetsuit :y:

^^^ this exactly. If you want to spend less money, just buy some ziplock bags and put a ziplock inside of a ziplock.

Dig a hole on the beach and put your keys, phone and any other valuables and bury them.
No-one will find them.

lie under the front of your car and hide it somewhere
like on the ledge under your slam panel/radiator, or rest it on a wishbone/exhaust or something
or by that key safe thing linked above and bolt it to a driveshaft or something under the car so no one can see it

Could always just get a regular non electrical key cut to the same as yours and then keep all your keys in the car hidden away somewhere. Lock doors with your new normal key and put it in your swimsuit.
