BBC 2 now. Surprised there isn't already a thread.

1st round at Qatar. Rossi is back on a Yam, Cal Crutchlow is on form. Bradley Smith alongside him on the Tech3 Yams.

Going to be a good one! :y:

SPOILER ALERT

What an awesome race. Yam 1 -2. Rossi showing he still has it! I was gutted for Cal, but also showing he has big potential for this season. Was hoping he would get a podium, but not quite!

The rookie on the Repsol Honda, Marquez (SP??) also had a cracking race, battling with the Dr in the last few laps.

Great opener, sign of good things to come from this season. Lorenzo Vs rossi when they're 1 -2 off the line is going to be awesome.

Can't say he can't ride that thing quick though. Closed up a huge gap and finished 2nd coming from seventh. If you like him or not, that's something awesome. Especially with 9 championship winners on the grid.

Just watched it on iplayer. I'm glad Rossi's back on a proper bike and he IS the greatest motogp racer there is. Lorenzo is on good form as usual but I hate him even more than I hated stoner and that midget pedrosa. Feel bad for Bradley who was 11th before his off.

Sorry but if Rossi got a good qualifying time he would of beat Lorenzo IMO. Rossi can win this year. And he is as good as people think, 9 time world champion for a reason.

Carl-h

Cannot believe Marquez! I just wonder how long it will last? He's obviously something special but the majority of rookies soend their first season or two falling off. Maybe hes better than that or maybe hes been lucky so far? I wasnt really into moto 2 last year so don't know how he rode in the wet there?

Crutchlow aswell, he did fantastic. Even better when you consider his garage set on fire and the sprinklers ruined the laptop with all the suspension settings in!

Pedrosa rode really well, did anyone see where he lost out on a good second to Marquez? BBC coverage didn't show it. I pressure he tried to make a move on the brakes but went in too hot? Lorenzo rode well but the Hondas really did dominate that track.

Moto 3 was a bloody good race too! Shame about the red flag but the 5 lap re start was bloody brilliant to watch!

Did you see the state of the back tyre on eurosport? The hard compound was fucked, Make no wonder he was tired with the amount he would have to be fighting that, Also he is epic in all weather from just watching him from moto2. I do actually believe he will be the championship winner. If he is hello £1300!!!!!.....

Still watching.

I don't think mark has big balls i think he just has way more talent than every one out there. When you see him leaning over as far as he does his body shape is totally different to any one else's.

Disappointing that Cal is going to ducati will more or less end his career for a good few seasons until his contract is over. He wants to ride a bike that can get him podiums and a win yet he is leaving a team that has already done this and is doing this week in week out.

can see scott reading doing amazing next year and will be nice to have 3 up to pace brits in the top class for a change.

Yea true hes gettin alot more lean angle then everybody else on the track, pure skill lol. I wish a put a bet on for him to win, someone else on this thread did iirc.

Yea Cal going to ducati is a bad choice imo. Don't know if its for the money or if he wants a starting point for a few years time. The ducatis just aren't competitive with the others. He'll be coming 6/7th next year.

I watch Moto GP when I can, but F1 takes priority most of the time.

I did catch the race at Sepang and my god the Lorenzo/Marquez duel was incredible, puts F1 to shame in terms of 'wheel-to-wheel' racing.

The sideways slip angles they were producing under braking is what got me, simply amazing how they keep it on the track.

I remember seeing Marquez at COTA last year and thinking he's destined for greatness.

Yea I watch F1 too but It bores me most of the time, I think its a battle of tyres and Vettel's cars much faster then everyone elses lol.

I've done that sideways braking thing a couple of times on my bike but thats mostly when I shit myself and a corners tighter then I thought haha

Not much he wont be allowed to play, Just like Jremy Burgess wasn't allowed to make the bike to his settings or to change to Showa suspension.

If they wont let him make changes to the bike for the national hero of Italy they aren't going to let any one else change much too set in the ways of "traditional in house engineering."

Noo.. he is on a way different bike to lorenzo using lorenzo's settings from last year so is having to make all his own data this year. I don't think he is doing to bad considering he had 2 years off.

IIrc they are using different suspension as well as a different chassis as Rossi is on the development chassis for next year.

the drive through was a bit shit like especially the 60kph extended speed limit, But i guess at the rate the track was chewing the hardest tyres it was needed. On the GP site there is a pic of Rossi's tyre after the first 10 and its down to the kevlar with no rubber.

Also the lorenzo bird strike was amazing.
