If anybody spots a 406 saloon or estate 2000 reg onwards about 70k miles 2.0 HDI 90 or 110. Please pm me or reply on here.

Nothing on autotrader or ebay a few on gumtree that I'm going looking at.

Any other sites I can look at?

Looking to spend about 1k for it.

Why a 406?...

Just cheap and reliable. Plus really nice driving position.

What would you suggest which will do about 45 mpg + and cost about 1k?

Good luck getting one on 70k for £1k.

We sold one on 140k-ish for ~£800 last year...

What about:

Audi A4 (b5 shape)
Vw golf wagon
Bmw 3 series

Will be hard pushed to find a diesel under 100k for a grand

I was looking at all sorts and ended up with a mondeo. 2l petrol gets 37 mpg.

£1250 at 86k miles with fsh

A mondeo tdci could be had for about a grand, 2003-2005 with around 100k miles. Mine does 45mpg not driving carefully. Just make sure the clutch is quiet and the pedal doesn't vibrate.

I hate anything tdci ford with their disgustingly costly electronic injectors.

I will have to keep a look out.

My old man has taken his one, with the same engine as this, to 270k now with no major issues.

Actually prefer this engine to the HDI's if I'm honest.

45mpg and 1k, a phase 2 vtr/furio for sure! Plus lots cheaper to service and repair.

Haha that looks pretty cool that. I like how the rear wheels suspension hasn't really changed and there is no weight on it.

And I just like the 406 as long as it has electric seats and a/c and a hdi engine
